Video reviews

The audio equipment of the German company HECO is recognized all over the world, thanks to its reliable sound and scrupulous approach to the manufacture of parts. The Direkt floorstanding speaker is an exemplary example of both.

Effective and efficient

Outwardly, the columns resemble ice cream on a stick, however, they are very large and heavy (100x44x39.7 cm and 25 kg each). The rectangular case in classic white or black colours with rounded corners and edges is made of thick-walled MDF and finished with spectacular vertical stripes.

In combination with shiny speaker rims and three high chrome-plated metal poles, the acoustics look catchy, elegant and expensive. And a slight tilt back performs not only an aesthetic function, but also ensures the optimization of the emission of a sound wave, eliminating the displacement of the waves of the lower and upper ranges.

Absolute Hi-Fi

The sound is even more impressive than the looks. A 280mm woofer/midrange driver with a wide woofer and a kraft paper membrane does an excellent job of reproducing bass from 25 Hz, and a 30 mm silk tweeter with an aluminium Wave-Control horn transmits highs cleanly and brightly up to the border of 28 kHz.

Dynamic, intelligible sound, amplified by two bass-reflex ports to the floor, is maintained even at maximum power, and it is quite solid here — 400 W RMS.

Heco Direkt uses only one pair of terminals to connect to the amplifier, which will probably upset some biwiring and biamping fans, but believe me, it will not adversely affect the sound in any way. It is here accurate, fast and transparent, and literally palpable physically. And the wide radiation pattern makes the system practically undemanding to placement in the room. At the same time, Direct is very demanding on the quality of the source (whether it's a vinyl player, CD player or other device). With it, you will have to forget about low-quality recordings, since all their nuances will be clearly audible.

HECO Direkt is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. Yes, it's expensive (around $2800), but it looks and sounds just as expensive.
