A 90-watt motor and two rotating cleaning wheels drive the Taiwanese manufacturer's robot over and clean glass, mirrors or tiles.
HOBOT 198 is powered by the mains and is equipped with a 5-metre power cord, which allows you to clean even panoramic windows. For safety reasons, the robot is equipped with a battery that will allow you to work up to 20 minutes during a power outage. Additional protection is provided by on-board sensors that detect obstacles and edges of frameless surfaces. Also included is a 150kg safety cable and spare cleaning wheels (another pair of removable rings and a set of microfibre cloths).
Three automatic modes
HOBOT 198 supports three modes of operation. Dry cleaning is recommended as a preliminary step: it is needed on the outside of windows or to remove heavy dirt inside. Wet (basic) cleaning requires applying water or detergent to the edges of the brush heads. The robot washes windows, eliminating various pollution. After wet cleaning, it is recommended to remove stains by placing the robot on the glass with dry or slightly moistened wipes near the centre.
Regardless of the selected mode, the device follows a single trajectory of movement: first it rises up the window, and then moves in zigzags to the bottom. Additionally, a "double zigzag" function is provided, designed to combat severe pollution.
Shine and cleanliness without streaks
The robot moves and cleans faster than the brand's younger models, such as HOBOT 188. This is facilitated by updated software and new spatial orientation sensors. But cleaning a standard size window in 3 steps usually takes 25 to 30 minutes.
During operation, the model does not leave streaks and smudges of water, since its rotating wheels are completely covered with cleaning nozzles. But the pollution in the corners of the windows will have to be removed manually. The robot cannot physically get close to them due to the rounded shape of the cleaning rings.
Convenient management
The window robot comes with a remote control. You can also remotely control it using the Hobot APP mobile application. Data transfer to the model is carried out via Bluetooth. The application not only allows you to control the device, but also sends alerts to the user, for example, in the event of a power outage.
HOBOT 198 is a very efficient but expensive window robot. But if you want to automate the window cleaning process and control the device from your mobile, then you should take a closer look at this model.
