Youth smartphone with a bright design
The Honor 9X is the direct successor to last year's youth-focused Honor 8X. Among the distinguishing features of the novelty is a retractable front camera, a display with a very narrow frame, a game-oriented processor and an unusual design of the back panel: a large and textured letter X is applied on the glass with a gradient colour. In combination with red, purple and light blue colours, it's great distinguishes Honor 9X from other modern smartphones.
Retractable camera with enhanced security
The entire front panel of the Honor 9X is occupied by a huge 6.59 IPS display. Instead of the popular waterdrop notch, the manufacturer used a variant with a 16 MP retractable front camera. Its main feature is an advanced protection system that hides the camera if the sensors understand that the smartphone is falling. In principle, Vivo, Xiaomi and Huawei itself already had this, but in the case of Honor 9X, the manufacturer promises a new level of frontal protection.
Processor for gaming
The new 7-nanometer Kirin 810 became the brain of the device. Despite the fact that the processor is by no means a flagship one, according to the manufacturer, it performs great in modern games. Slightly weaker than the flagship Snapdragon 855, but much better than other mid-range chips. And it's like snow in the middle of August, because the performance of the graphics core is usually single-chip Snapdragon. In terms of memory, the Honor 9X has a mid-range bundle of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. At the same time, there are also modifications for 6 GB + 128 GB. In both cases, there is a hybrid slot for a memory card.
Fancy fingerprint scanner
An interesting feature of the device was the fingerprint scanner. In Honor 9X, it is not located in the screen or the back panel, but on the side, like in Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. At the presentation of the smartphone, Huawei executives even announced that the future belongs to such scanners and they will “kill” clumsy scanners on the screen. Another feature of the Honor 9X was the optimization of artificial intelligence to improve the performance of wireless networks and 4G. According to the passport, this is a whole complex of features (Link Turbo, AI Smart Dual Card Internet, AI Smart Antenna, Dual 4G Dual VoLTE, AI 4G Signal fast recovery, AI Intelligent base station selection), which is called AI Smart Communication 2.0.
Potential leader of the low-cost segment
Otherwise, we have the standard equipment of a mid-range smartphone: a dual camera, USB-C and a metal and glass body. Although, for the time being, in smartphones for $ 200 you will not often find metal and glass, and so far Huawei / Honor mainly indulges in such things. In view of the foregoing, the following conclusion is obtained: if the Honor 9X does not show any hidden sores over time, then it will be a great success.
