Grace itself
Remember the days when routers looked like ugly greasy boxes with antenna horns sticking out in all directions? Usually they were hidden out of sight, somewhere behind a computer, TVs or in a cabinet in the corridor. And now look how everything has changed, even a model for 30 bucks can look stylish, and a slightly more expensive router can become almost a work of art. Proven by Huawei and its new WS5200 model, which is sure to delight fans of the Apple aesthetic.
4 powerful antennas with good signal penetration through walls
Four antennas protrude from the minimalist white case of the WS5200 in the form of strong white perforated plates. Two of them are responsible for communication in the 2.4 GHz band, the other pair operates in the 5 GHz band. In the first case, we have a bandwidth of 300 Mbps, while in the 5 GHz band, the speed rises to 867 Mbps. According to unofficial data, the antennas have a gain of 5 dBi, and according to personal feelings, they perfectly “break through” walls. In the outer room, the smart set-top box was lousy picking up the signal from the old router, but after installing the WS5200, the signal became cleaner and more stable, and 1080p movies no longer slow down to load the next piece of video. For a wired connection, 4 LAN ports are provided at once.
Link+ allows you to combine multiple routers into a common network
The only pity is that Huawei did not add Beamforming support to the WS5200, which we are slowly used to seeing in routers of this class. But there is support for MU-MIMO and Link + features, with which you can create an extended network of several Huawei routers, increasing the signal reception radius. As in Mesh networks, only one router needs to be configured, after which it will transfer the settings to all other devices. Naturally, they must also support Link+.
