Interesting design and light weight

The high-quality knife products of the American company Kai USA Ltd, part of the Kai Group, are known throughout the world under the Kershaw trademark. The production of these knives is based on the ancient Japanese blacksmithing tradition, given a new life thanks to modern technology. The Kershaw Reverb XL folding knife is designed for hiking, backpacking, outdoors and camping. It has an attractive design, thoughtful blade geometry, excellent cutting properties and a weightless handle, which determined the light weight of the entire structure (62 g). The knife opens with one hand and is secured with a frame lock. When folded, it has a length of 109 mm, and in working condition — 187 mm.

Persian blade profile

The blade of the blade with a persian-point profile and an upwardly curved tip has symmetrical descents, a butt thickness of 3 mm and a length of 76 mm. The planes of the blade are made with selections that perform the function of a nail hook for opening. The smooth-ground blade is made of 8Cr13MoV high-carbon stainless steel, which is an analogue of the popular 440C knife steel. This is a steel with a medium chromium content, as well as a small addition of molybdenum and vanadium. It has a hardness of 57 – 58 HRC, is easy to sharpen and holds a cutting edge for a long time.

Titanium carbonitride coating

The unusual appearance of the blade, as well as one of the sides of the handle, is given by a matte PVD coating of titanium carbonitride, made by vacuum deposition. Measuring just 9.6mm thick, the handle is clearly cut out for ease of opening and consists of a rear steel ram and a G10 composite epoxy fibreglass front ram with a carbon overlay. In the upper part of the “tail” of the handle there is a metal carabiner for attaching the strap, and a spring pocket clip (clip) is screwed to the steel plate. The manufacturer backs the product with a limited lifetime warranty.
