Model overview based on user reviews
The Makita DBC340 trimmer is noted for its powerful performance, capable of cutting through small trees, and features a forged straight shaft with comfortable rubberized handles and a shoulder strap. Despite its power, it is relatively light. However, users have reported significant issues, particularly with the engine mounting on the shaft, which can shear off due to high speeds and vibrations, causing operational problems. The material quality and design flaws, such as a sticking throttle cable and constant carburetor adjustments, are concerning. Additionally, the air damper is non-functional, and the fuel tank is smaller than advertised, leading to frequent refueling. The knife arrives dull, and the mowing head is not included, requiring additional purchases. Overall, the trimmer is seen as unfinished and requiring improvements, with a high price attributed to the brand rather than its reliability.
Pros

Cons

I do not recommend buying this model due to its technical shortcomings.

This model, in my opinion, is unfinished and requires improvement, or I came across a factory defect. Strong vibration can damage the spine, which is what happened to me. The price is very high due to the brand, but it crumbles like a Chinese braid for 5-10 thousand. The fuel tank is not corresponds to the description on the Internet and on the Kinobay store website, it is 0.5 liters, and not 1 liter, as was stated everywhere. Therefore, with such high power and fuel consumption, you have to refuel every 40-50 minutes, which is not very pleasing, I knew If only I wouldn’t buy it in advance! It’s clearly a marketing move. The knife comes from the factory dull, so you’ll have to sharpen it, and the mowing head is not included in the kit, you’ll have to buy it, plus the original fishing line, prepare a couple more thousand. I spent 3000 because I took fishing line with a reserve. The fishing line is 2.4 mm, and on Chinese braids and on most other braids it is 2.5 mm, in any household store. So you will probably have to take the original, which is 3 times more expensive.
Powerful, cuts and chops even small trees, forged straight shaft, comfortable rubberized handles and shoulder strap. Quite light for such power and configuration, but the trick is that they saved on the tank.
I bought it a week ago, used it for 3 days, and already returned it to the service center through the online store where I purchased it. The main problem is the engine mounting on the shaft; at high speeds and vibrations, it simply sheared off the seating splines on the shaft and turns during operation in the direction of the shaft rotation, so no clamps hold it. The fault lies with the material quality and the manufacturer's flaws. For such a powerful trimmer, the mounting should have been reinforced somehow. As noted by previous users, the throttle cable constantly sticks, and it's impossible to adjust the idle speed. Due to strong vibrations, the carburetor settings are constantly knocked off, so you have to keep adjusting them. The air damper doesn't function at all; I started the trimmer without it, using the throttle fully open, as it wouldn't start otherwise. Eventually, on the third day of use, it flew off due to vibrations. Overall, it's full of incomplete fixes, it's like putting a Mercedes engine in a Zaporozhets and not changing anything in the design—it will fall apart on the go! You work for half an hour, fix it for 15 minutes, and this is Makita, I didn't expect this, it seems to be considered a reliable brand.
