Model overview based on user reviews
The Nikon Speedlight SB-900 is highly regarded for its advanced features and superior performance compared to its predecessors, the SB-800 and SB-600. Users appreciate its temperature sensor, battery indicator, and separate switch to wireless mode, which enhance usability. The flash is noted for its smart functionality, recognizing filters and adjustments automatically. While some users find it large and heavy, the benefits such as overheating protection and extended beam angle up to 200mm make it a worthwhile investment. However, there are concerns about the availability of certified units and potential issues with gray market items, as one user experienced functionality loss and warranty challenges. Despite these issues, the SB-900 is praised for its ease of use and remote control capabilities, making it a preferred choice for professional photographers.

it makes sense to overpay if you use a long focal length lens... and that’s it. since sb800 takes max-150mm and sb900-200mm! the most important thing is that the diffuser does not burn after prolonged use like in 800! advantages compared to the 800: temperature sensor, battery indicator (only at minimum), separate switch to wireless mode (no need to go into the menu) and a few more small things not revealed yet, a little too much money |
I really liked it, a long-awaited purchase. - A very smart flash, it knows what you've put on it, what filter you're using, where you've turned it, etc. The downside of the case )) You can't fit it with the diffuser on :) Didn't notice any other drawbacks |
Everything would be fine... after 6 months, the BL function disappeared for no apparent reason, as well as the preflash mode, and when connected to the camera, the TTL mode disappears... Maybe I was just unlucky? And the "wonderful" little shop turned out to have sold me a "gray market" item, and Nikon's official service won't accept it under warranty... I wrote a complaint to the store... they'll probably refund me, but there don't seem to be any certified 900s available... Has anyone compared the 900 and the 910? What are the fundamental differences, apart from the overheat controller? Is it worth looking for a 900, or can I go for the 910? But is it worth paying extra for it? |
