Model overview based on user reviews
The Oculus Rift S is a user-friendly VR headset that offers an impressive visual experience with a screen resolution of 2560x1440 px and a refresh rate of 80 fps. Users appreciate its easy setup and the inclusion of necessary accessories like controllers and a PC connection cable. The headset's tracking capabilities are generally praised, although it struggles with hand movements behind the back. The audio quality is a common concern, as the speakers lack bass and allow external noise, prompting some users to use separate headphones. Despite minor setup challenges and the need for a DisplayPort connection, the Oculus Rift S is considered a great option for VR gaming, especially for beginners, offering excellent value for its price.

-Price (bought on Amazon for 22k + 8k shipping) -the kit includes everything you need for VR: a headset with tracking cameras, controllers, and a cable for PC connection. -When connecting for the first time, I had to jump through hoops a bit, as the sensors weren't working for some reason, but after rebooting the PC, they came to life. -The headset cannot track hand movements behind the back. The headset has a technology that guesses where and how the hands move behind the back, but it works well only if they are there briefly, 1-2 seconds. However, during games, I rarely reach behind my back with my hands. -The speakers aren't great, so I connected headphones to the headset and listened through them. |
When my friends were swooning over fur coats in stores, I was sighing over virtual reality glasses. I hadn't received such joy from gifts in a long time. In a beautifully packaged box awaited a headset, two controllers, batteries, a port adapter for display on a mini-screen, and instructions. I was afraid I'd have to spend a long time crawling around finding the perfect points and angles for each sensor. I worried for nothing; the setup is very simple. After installing the Oculus software, it quickly configures the Rift S, and setting up the boundaries is instantaneous. The visual effects are simply amazing. The screen-door effect is practically invisible, and the text is clear and understandable. For the first 2 months, I couldn't tear myself away from the games. Playing Beatsaber, Echo VR, and Superhot is an indescribable pleasure, with not a single issue in tracking or disorientation at 80 Hz. When you put on the glasses, there's no chance of scratching the lenses. The only downside I've noticed is the audio. The speakers are hidden on each side of the strap, so you can hear everything happening around you, which is distracting and makes it hard to fully immerse in the game. And there's a lack of bass, especially in the game Beatsaber. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with these glasses. After installing the Oculus software, it configures the Rift S very quickly, and boundary setup is done instantly. The visual effects are simply awesome. The screen door effect is almost unnoticeable, and the text is clear and understandable. The speakers are hidden on each side of the strap, so you can hear everything happening around, which is distracting and makes it difficult to fully immerse in the game. Lacks bass. |
These are simply excellent technologies! Everything moves so coolly in the VR environment, you can escape from reality for a long time) Ease of use. Take it out of the box, connect, update, and play. Reminder about TB, it's important! By default, Oculus is installed on the system drive (C:, in Windows 10), and to install it on another drive, you have to use some tricks in the system console. Fortunately, there is information on the official website about what to do. |
