Hybrid compact internal (embedded) hard drive from the family of 2.5" HDD drives Laptop Thin SSHD model 2013. This line includes 2 models with a capacity of 500 GB and 1000 GB, which are designed to solve a wide range of tasks. A distinctive feature of the model is the use hybrid design consisting of a mobile HDD and a special NAND Flash memory cache. Thanks to this arrangement and special firmware, the Seagate Laptop SSHD 2.5" ST1000LM014 hard drive combines the advantages of traditional HDD drives and SSD technologies, significantly increasing read-write speeds.

Positioned as a mid-price product, aimed at use in laptops, small desktop PCs (miniPCs), all-in-one PCs and HTPC systems. Such a drive can be used as the main (system) drive or paired with a more powerful SSD drive. Thanks to its modest overall dimensions (height 7 mm) and SATA3 interface, it is suitable for upgrading existing mobile computers. Supports Seagate Adaptive Memory technology, which caches the most frequently accessed data in Flash memory for fast access and low power consumption.

How to Choose a Hard DriveUnderstanding how to choose the right HDD for gaming, video recording, server, and other tasks
Model overview based on user reviews
The Seagate Laptop SSHD 2.5" is a hybrid drive that combines the benefits of SSD speed with HDD capacity, making it an attractive choice for users seeking a balance between performance and storage. Users appreciate the noticeable speed increase and quiet operation, especially when used in older laptops like the 2010 MacBook. The drive is affordable and offers decent read-write speeds, making it suitable for gaming and system applications. However, it does not match the speed of a pure SSD, and its performance improvement is mainly in system and application startup, not in file copying. A significant concern is the lack of proper cooling for the board processor, which can affect the drive's longevity. Users suggest that removing the sticker and film from the thermal pad can enhance performance, but this requires some technical skill. Overall, it's a good budget option if you're willing to make minor modifications.

great model, love it

Consider the peculiarity of this hybrid - the speed does not increase immediately, but after you work and restart the system several times. After that, it will cache everything it needs and things will go smoothly. And I realized that it is much better not to transfer the old system to the new disk, but to just install a new one. Also, do not expect that the performance improvement will be in everything. Only in terms of system and application startup. The file copying speed will not change, as they will be transferred to the hard drive, not the SSD. The latter is used here only for caching.
A very interesting solution, I liked the idea right away. At first, I wanted to buy a regular SSD and an external hard drive, but then I learned about these models and had no doubts. I do need a decent capacity after all, but a 500 GB SSD costs insane money. Constantly using an external hard drive is just inconvenient. I use it in a white MacBook from 2010. The speed has noticeably increased, I saw that immediately. But miracles don't happen, later I compared its performance with a similar laptop and an SSD. Even though its RAM is even less than mine, its performance is still noticeably higher. I didn't conduct any tests, but it's perfectly visible to the eye. The disk itself is quiet, you can barely hear it. It doesn't heat up. The price is quite reasonable.
Not found yet. I can only note what I mentioned in the advantages - the speed of a pure SSD is noticeably higher than that of this hybrid. But these are already technical features, as they say, do you want the badge or the ride?
use Seagate Laptop SSHD 2.5" week i recommend it should buy
Overall the disc is good, but there is a serious drawback for the average user

A good budget drive for games and systems. But there is one serious problem - the manufacturer cheated with cooling the processor on the board, there is a thermal pad, but its contact is prevented by the sticker and film, the manufacturer was either lazy or did not remove it on purpose, if someone thinks that this is a trifle, then I will say that after peeling them off then there was no drop in speed after 5 passes of the crystal mark, on the contrary, the speed was higher than with 1 pass, you can buy such things, guys, but only if you have straight hands and need to handle and modify this semi-finished product, otherwise it will not last long.
Decent read-write speed, affordable price, reliability (if only the manufacturer had bothered to fix the flaw)
The assholes of the assemblers, the lack of cooling of the board processor, which critically affects the service life of the disk
