One of the available models of internal (embedded) 3.5" hard drives with a capacity of 1000 GB from the 2012 line of consumer Seagate Barracuda HDD drives with a SATA3 interface. Positioned as a product in the basic price category, aimed at use as part of multi-purpose office configurations, home PCs, and budget DAS and NAS systems. Its capacity is quite enough to store files of work projects, as well as significant volumes of photos, audio and video content of SD/HD/UHD resolution.

The Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 ST1000DM003 can play the role of a computer system drive, but when working with it. For demanding operating systems (Windows 10/11), it is better to use it in conjunction with a more powerful system SSD drive. The use of proprietary AcuTrac and OptiCache technologies in combination with a high platter rotation speed (7200 rpm) and a 64 MB cache allows displaying. impressive sequential read/write speed. Demonstrates an average level of power consumption (5.9 W in write mode), so proper organization of air flow in the case/basket is necessary to maintain optimal thermal conditions.

Model overview based on user reviews
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 is a popular choice for those seeking an affordable and efficient hard drive. Users appreciate its quiet operation and low heat generation, even under heavy use. The drive boasts good performance with technologies like OptiCache and AcuTrac enhancing its speed and reliability. However, some users have reported issues with reliability over time, with drives failing after a year or more, leading to data loss concerns. Despite this, many find it a cost-effective solution for general storage needs, though some recommend considering alternatives for critical data storage due to potential reliability issues. Overall, it offers good value for its price, especially for non-critical applications.

The mb model is almost the same for me, but with proper use it works for a long time

An interesting situation) I am a student of the Faculty of Cybernetics, currently doing an assignment on "Computer Architecture" remotely to describe my HDD, I'm searching for information on the internet and stumbled upon here. My old companion has been working for 7 YEARS and it's doing fine. Not even any bad sectors) I just couldn't resist writing a review. I attached a photo to the comment, maybe I have a slightly different model, but the manufacturer is more than respectable, as are the drives.

Better get something from WD than this
29 July 2016
It was taken as the only hard drive in the system, and everything was fine, but after about a year and a half of using windows, it began to noticeably slow down, the check showed bad sectors, and therefore it was decided to buy a new one, and leave this one as a dump file. After transferring everything to a new hard drive, this one was formatted in low level format, it didn’t work worse, but it didn’t get much better either. The screw has not died yet, and that's good. but how much longer it will work is questionable. If it wasn’t for this marriage, the hard drive is generally good, and its speed indicators are at an average level and allow you to work with a PC without problems
quiet, does not heat up during operation, large clipboard 64 mb
reliability could be better

Purchased in late 2015. Excellent HDD. Initially was the system drive, after buying an SSD it works as storage.
