I bought it in August but only started using it actively after school began. Here's what I've found out over these 1.5 months. Indeed, as mentioned in reviews, it's very quiet, almost silent, but there are suspicions that over time, like all electronics, it will wear out and start making noise. Connector. It saves the day when installing and storing large and heavy volumes of graphic materials. The data transfer speed is decent for the USB >3 generation. The Transcend StoreJet 25M3 is a true veteran of the external hard drive market. It was the Taiwanese company Transcend that once set the fashion for shock-resistant HDDs with the StoreJet 25M model with USB 2.0. And already it was replaced by an updated version of 25M3 with a high-speed USB 3.0 interface. The well-proven reinforced hull design has remained unchanged.
Not afraid of falling
There are three StoreJet 25M3 volumes to choose from: 500 GB, 1 and 2 TB. Inside the rubberized casing is a laptop hard drive with a speed of 5400 rpm and 8 MB of cache. Of course, it’s not worth dropping the HDD on purpose, especially when it’s turned on (it can jam the spindle), but the switched-off drive should survive accidental falls from the height of the table without problems. No wonder the manufacturer gives it a 3-year warranty, which is more than for internal HDDs.
Miser pays twice
It's doubly nice that Transcend doesn't charge too much for shock resistance — the StoreJet 25M3 costs only a little more than conventional external HDDs. There are not many alternatives to the StoreJet 25M3: in addition to Transcend, only ADATA and Silicon Power produce protected hard drives. Moreover, the latter implements not only shock resistance, but also IP68 water protection (withstands immersion in water to a shallow depth and for a short time).
