A line of 3.5″ consumer HDDs from the American manufacturer Seagate. Part of the 2018 BarraCuda Compute consumer series, targeted at the consumer segment, including consumer multimedia PCs, game systems with more memory for game libraries, and office PCs that can do without a faster SSD. They can also be installed in workstations where a heavy load on the I / O subsystem is not expected.
Available storage capacity ranges from 500 GB to 8 TB. Depending on the storage, the amount of cache memory is from 32 to 256 MB. All representatives of this family are equipped with two types of reading heads, operating at a speed of 5400 or 7200 rpm. The former consume less energy and make less noise, the latter are focused on maximum speed. In general, the spread of speeds across the series is in the range from 156 to 220 MB / s.
Inside a Seagate BarraCuda Compute hard drive, you can find one or more high-capacity magnetic platters, as well as several heads that are used to read and write data. Data is written to disk using SMR tiled magnetic recording technology, which is great for home use, but may be less suitable for use in server systems where higher speeds and performance are required. Bought this drive over a year ago. All sectors are intact, and it doesn't heat beyond 33 degrees. A good hard drive in terms of price and quality ratio.
