Umarex Cowboy Rifle

Photos - Air Rifle Umarex Cowboy Rifle
Outdated Product
The model seemed to have stepped off the cover of Westerns from the colorful era of the Wild West. The artificially aged surfaces of the rifle give it a resemblance to a real combat weapon. Also, very close attention is paid to the authentic shooting process. Judge for yourself, the rifle comes with 10 cartridges loaded with 4.5 mm caliber balls. In a similar way, imitation of cartridges and ejection of shells after shots is played out. Umarex Cowboy Rifle belongs to the category of gas-ballooned air rifles, powered by a reservoir of CO₂ in the stock. The barrel of the weapon is smooth, the speed of the bullet is low (about 175 m / s), and the accuracy of shooting leaves much to be desired. However, the model is more designed to please the eye with nostalgic charm. The rifle has acquired a...classic wooden butt, open sights (whole and front sight) with height adjustment, there is no mount for external sights in its design. The air rifle weighs about 2.5 kg. It is ideal for "stylish" recreational shooting.

To give you an understanding of the value of this review: I consider myself an experienced user of pneumatic "weapons." This is my third toy in the arsenal, I also have a Gamo CRF (more than 7k shots) and a Baikal MP-651KS pistol (more than 10k shots).

What I can add to what is described in other fields.

In the photos, the rifle looks lighter than it actually is.

Economical consumption. About 65 shots per cartridge without noticeable loss of power. Why from one cartridge when there are two? It's because piercing both cartridges is quite difficult. You need to tighten the chamber strongly, and its screw is made of silumin or something like that. I'm worried it might break. Or the thread might get stripped. By the way, the seal on the screw has some special shape, not just a rubber ring that's easy to replace.

Power: from 10m, the pellet fully penetrated plywood at 4.5mm. However, considering the intended use of the rifle, the power could be lower, but there's no adjustment.

The trigger is very soft and short! You need to be careful with this.

Additionally, charging must be done carefully. Cartridges easily chip the paint on the box, see the photo. But this is not a downside of the rifle; just don't rush the charging process :)
Authenticity. I have shot from the real Winchester of this model. The exterior is indeed very similar, both in terms of dimensions and the mechanics of use.

The accuracy is simply incredible for a smoothbore toy. From 10 meters, the steel balls (4.5mm) fall into a 12mm area.. if there are no flyers, of course :) And this is a very good result, there is something to compare it with.
Materials: plastic stock and forearm (that's okay), working parts made from various metals. The rifle even has silumin parts, including in the cartridge feeding mechanism! I think that's bad. In my photos, you can see the notch on the trigger. That's after just 180 shots.

Personally, I don't like the sighting devices. You have to aim the front sight at the very bottom of the rear sight when shooting at a target. Or shoot below the target. The rifle shoots high, and it's impossible to lower the rear sight. You can't remove the front sight to replace it with a higher one.

It's almost impossible to find where to buy additional cartridges.
