Outdated Product
A reliable internal server hard drive with a capacity of 2 TB from the 3.5" HDD series WD Raid Edition (family models range from 1 to 4 TB). This family includes high-quality drives optimized in design and firmware for long-term data storage tasks in NAS arrays and servers with up to 16 HDDs. It can be used in second-tier RAID arrays of large data centers. The SAS interface is used for connectivity, so the WD RE WD2001FYYG hard drive is not suitable for use in regular consumer/office PCs. It can only be used in SAS or SAS/SATA bays with hot-swap support or connected to a controller with an SFF-8482 cable (not included). This model uses the classic magnetic CMR recording method, ensuring high data access speed, and the magnetic plates rotate at 7200 RPM. The patented RAFF (Rotary Acceleration Feed Forward)...balancing technology optimizes the device's performance under vibration conditions created by multiple drives. With proper cooling, it can be operated 24/7. The firmware of this drive is optimized for operation in RAID arrays and supports Time-Limited Error Recovery (TLER) technology, preventing the device from dropping out of the array.

How to Choose a Hard DriveUnderstanding how to choose the right HDD for gaming, video recording, server, and other tasks
Model overview based on user reviews
The WD RE RE series hard drives are highly regarded for their reliability and fast performance, making them suitable for both RAID arrays and home use. Users appreciate the high read/write speeds and the large storage capacities available, which range from 250 GB to 6 TB. The drives feature vibration protection and technology to prevent data loss during heavy vibrations, which is particularly beneficial in server environments. While some users report noticeable noise and vibration, especially in certain models like the WD2004FBYZ, others find the noise level acceptable with proper cooling solutions. The drives are considered expensive when purchasing multiple units, but the investment is justified by their long lifespan and reliability. Overall, the WD RE RE series is a solid choice for those needing dependable storage solutions.

The manufacturer must be flogged!

I regularly buy such discs. This WD2004FBYZ series vibrates a lot. That is, if you hold it in your hand, it behaves like a children's toy with a cheap motor. After installing it in a heavy basket and a mega-heavy case, the entire case vibrates. The vibration is noticeable EVEN on the table next to the case!!! The WD2000FYYZ series also suffered from this problem, but it was noticed in one out of six to ten drives and the vibration was less powerful. However, the batch of drives purchased over the last couple of months all vibrate. There's one supplier to Ukraine. A suspicion has arisen that they're sending us fakes. Or (less likely) the manufacturer has lowered the quality requirements of the finished product by a couple of levels. I (and everyone who works with me) quickly dubbed these drives VIBRATING DISKS. When idle, these vibrating disks stop, and after accessing them, they quickly spin up. Even a deaf person would notice the noise difference. It's time to give them a rating. It's a tricky matter. Of course, such drives are primarily intended for "noisy" servers, where noise is not considered a criterion at all. BUT, as everyone understands (I hope so), "vibrating disks" work to the detriment of the bearing, and they certainly will not last the declared 2 million hours in the "fairy tales." And knowing this, WD still pushes (possibly only here) its vibrating junk. Therefore, I believe that consumers - that is, us - should "protest" and try to influence WD's future view of us with our protest.
Almost everything!!!
Mega vibrates (considering the expected quality from a leading company)

According to the manufacturer's positioning, it is the most reliable disk, I have used more than 3 of them, and I have not a single complaint about it. The hard drive has a high failure life and is recommended for use in raid servers, but in my case it is also suitable for a home user. In fact, this is Caviar Black but only with twice the service life. Its 2 TB is more than enough for everything you need: games, movies, music, even this may seem like a lot to some, but given the size of the movie database, there is never enough space. 64 MB cache and high operating speed are all you need for a good hard drive, which is what this one is.
the obvious disadvantages are its noisy operation and the need for cooling, since it heats up a little more than a classic home hard drive

Normal option.

In order not to use various programs for monitoring the temperature of the hdd, you just need to think through the proper ventilation of the case. So that it is effective, and not at random. And then you can not control this parameter, and not worry about the data on the screws.
High reliability in continuous operation, which makes this hard drive suitable for RAID arrays, ensuring data safety. High read/write speed, which is always relevant. Large capacity of 2000 GB - the principle of the more, the better, applies here.
A bit expensive. When you buy one, it's okay, but when you buy several at once... it's expensive.
