Xiaomi continues to delight fans of the brand with affordable smartphones with flagship ambitions. At the dawn of 2019, the baton in the top Mi series was continued by the ninth generation of mobile devices “at maximum speed”.
Trending tricks
The smartphone uses a trendy technique with a glass gradient back (in two of three versions) and a neat teardrop-shaped cutout for a selfie camera on the front panel. Otherwise, over 90% of the space on the front of the case is occupied by a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED screen with FullHD+ resolution (2340x1080 pixels). The display has acquired support for displaying images in extended dynamic range (HDR10), has an expanded DCI-P3 color gamut, and its maximum brightness threshold is 600 cd/m².
No compromises
Inside, as expected, there is hardware without compromise: the strongest of the “dragons” from Qualcomm number 855, powerful Adreno 640 graphics, 6/8 GB of RAM and a built-in 128 GB storage(unfortunately, without the possibility of expanding memory). In games, all the computing power of the “filling” is directed in the right direction by the proprietary Game Turbo technology. With such data, the smartphone single-handedly topped the ranking of the most productive “mobile phones” in the AnTuTu test (at the time of the device’s announcement), earning a track record of nearly 400 thousand “parrots”.
Three-story chamber
According to the authoritative resource DxOMark, the Xiaomi Mi 9 camera is recognized as the best in video shooting (99 points according to test results). However, the model also takes photographs, as befits a flagship: the triple module of the rear camera with a stabilization system produces a low-noise picture in low light conditions, quickly clings to the subject and yields the first lines of the podium in the Mobile Photography discipline to only a couple from Huawei (P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro). A 48 MP 1/2" format image sensor with high-aperture f/1.75 optics is assigned to the role of the leader in the “three-story” camera, and it is supported by a telephoto camera with a 12 MP matrix and a 16 MP “wide” with a field of view angle of 117°.
Additional assets
Additional assets of Xiaomi Mi 9 include a full set of communication modules, including an infrared port and an NFC chip, as well as a newfangled under-screen fingerprint scanner. The gadget’s 3,300 mAh battery “refuels” energy tanks using fast (from zero to “hundred” in 60 minutes at a power outlet) and wireless charging technologies. The only thing the device lacks is moisture protection of the case, which has long been taken for granted in flagship smartphones.
