The popular model of the PSR E453 synthesizer is a semi-professional electronic keyboard classic from the leading Japanese manufacturer Yamaha.
The convenience of use
The first thing that catches your eye is the ergonomic design and built-in speakers with a total power of 12 watts. You can rehearse and even perform at small events without additional amplification.
The PSR E453 is a little less than a metre wide, so it fits comfortably anywhere, even where there is no outlet nearby. The model is powered by 6 AA batteries.
Sound capabilities
The tone bank (758 pcs) pleases with a realistic sound. "Live" instruments: brass, rhythm section, piano are reproduced almost naturally. Brass and strings from the Sweet category sound with natural vibrato. The Cool category will delight lovers of keyboard and organ sounds with advanced post-processing, while assignable live control encoders will help you modify preset sounds. DJ Pattern mode will appeal to beginner DJs with an abundance of dance rhythms and effects.
You can connect any audio player with a line output to the synthesizer and play your favorite songs. And if you want to play along with them, the unique Melody Suppressor function will help you remove the melody line from the track. However the effect does not work with all phonograms.
School for beginners
220 auto accompaniment styles, arpeggiator and learning mode turn the model into a whole musical school. For those who don't have enough styles, additional ones can be downloaded via USB.
The model shows itself very well in concert practice, both as part of a small ensemble and solo. But for large-scale performances, 48-voice polyphony will not be enough.
Additional features
The synthesizer has the most convenient registration memory management — switching instruments during performance is done by pressing any of the 4 buttons. Also, the model has a metronome, transposition, pitch controller and a sequencer for recording melodies in MIDI. By the way, you can record them using a special application for iOSYamaha Sound Recorder.
Splitting the keyboard allows you to play two instruments at the same time: for example, to lead the bass and brass section. But recording a sample in order to use it during performance will fail. There is no such function.
At a fairly modest cost of just over $400, the PSR E453 has enough potential for both teaching and performing for a small audience.
