Slightly larger than a regular flash drive
The A-Data SE800 is one of the most, if not the most compact external SSDs you can find on the market. Its weight is only 40 grams with dimensions of 73x44x12 mm. If you are tired of comparisons with bank cards, then these are actually the dimensions of an old-fashioned gasoline lighter. And it looks quite nice, thanks to the brushed aluminium coating and the unusual wavy shape of the case.
Universal Soldier
However, being beautiful is not his primary prerogative. The SE800 chassis has been tested to military standards MIL-STD-810G, so it can withstand drop tests from a two-metre height without any problems. Further more: assembled from aluminium, silicone and rubber, the case also boasts full protection against water and dust (protection class IP68). And this is the full performance of the disk after a 30-minute swim at a depth of one and a half metres.
High bandwidth USB-C 3.2 gen2 port
For data transfer, A-Data SE800 uses a high-speed USB-C 3.2 gen2 connector, which provides data transfer at speeds up to 1000 MB / s for linear writing and linear reading. In synthetic tests, the read speed is approximately the same as the passport one, but the write speed according to CrystalDiskMark is a much more modest 676 MB / s. However, even in this case, it is faster than most simple past-generation SSDs that work with USB 3.2 gen1. And given the fairly affordable price and complete protection against any adversity, the SE800 has virtually no competitors. A fully protected SD700 from the same A-Data is 2 times slower, and now they are asking for a LaCie Rugged SSD like a Chinese moped.
