For comfortable work, study and pastime in games, the mid-range laptop Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G is optimally suited. A significant trump card in the model's sleeve is discrete graphics.
Performance combo
In the “engine compartment” of the laptop, a productive combo of a 12-thread “six-core” Ryzen 5 5500U and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 video card with 4 GB of memory is installed. Two slots are allocated for RAM in the model. One of them is empty, the second is occupied by 8 GB DDR4 memory. The hardware platform of the laptop is characterized by high performance when performing everyday tasks and has a good gaming potential. The model will easily run many resource-intensive games in the manner of Cyberpank 2077 or Metro Exodus, albeit at low graphics display settings.
Fingerprint authentication
The weak side of the Acer Aspire 7 A715-42G is the screen. More precisely, the narrow color gamut of the display (only a little more than half of the sRGB "triangle"). The contrast, brightness and color reproduction of the IPS panel leave much to be desired. You can praise the screen for its matte finish and good viewing angles. The keyboard block of the model is full-sized, with a separate Num-pad. And in the corner of the touchpad of the device, a fingerprint scanner found a haven to unlock the laptop by fingerprint.
Under the banner of accessibility
The laptop is powered by a 48 Wh battery. According to the “passport”, about 11.5 hours of battery life are declared for it, in fact, the battery lasts for about 7 hours when operating with office applications. Unfortunately, the laptop does not charge via the USB-C port, since this interface does not support Power Delivery. In contrast, it should be noted a wide variety of connection ports - here you have a trio of USB A, and the aforementioned USB-C, and HDMI, and even a gigabit LAN connector. The laptop is inferior in terms of design and plastic materials of the body compared to the models of the executive level. However, these nuances are offset by the affordable price of a portable computer.

Fast enough SSD; Keyboard; Processor; Design; Decent battery life; Current wireless modules (Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5). I don't understand why all manufacturers haven't switched to modern wireless standards yet, but that's exactly why I chose THIS laptop, not the HP with a similar processor, but with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2; Color reproduction; Mediocre touchpad (it's okay, there are even convenient gestures, but a mouse is much more pleasant); Initially, the F1-F12 buttons work as functional keys, and to press F1 you need to simultaneously hold the FN key. Naturally, I changed this in the BIOS right away, but it's unclear why it's like this. For inexperienced users, this can become a problem; Sound: loud, without distortion, but quite mediocre, good for watching movies, but it's better not to listen to music; 1 slot for installing SSD (which is obviously already occupied). That is, if 512 GB SSD becomes insufficient for you, you won't be able to add a second SSD, only replace the one already installed. |
A decent laptop with good specs, quiet, powerful, plenty of space on the drive to start, and I don't really like to keep clutter, everything unnecessary is deleted including games, of which I have 2. Performance is alright, the beech on AMD stone. They're not there, I'd tweak the bass, but overall it's not bad. |

The SSD is fairly fast, and the processor performs well (Ryzen 7 5700U). I even tried downloading and playing one game. Dead by Daylight runs at ultra settings at 50-60 FPS, with no freezes, and the processor temperature didn’t rise above 80 degrees, averaging 75. However, I deleted it after 30 minutes because playing on a small 15.6" screen is uncomfortable, besides, the laptop wasn’t intended for that.
I was pleased with the keyboard, it’s pleasant to type on, with distinct yet quiet keystrokes. The brightness of the backlight, although not adjustable, is well set, doesn’t strain the eyes, and works well in the dark.
Battery life. While watching videos at 80% brightness in Better Battery mode (there's also Power Saver mode, which would last a bit longer), the laptop lasted 6 hours and still had 10-15% left, autonomy is OK. There’s also a proprietary Acer Care Center utility, which, when plugged in, allows setting a charge limit (80%) to prolong battery life.
The only downside for me was the TERRIBLE color representation. After a home monitor with 97% sRGB, the laptop’s 60% (if I’m not mistaken, I couldn’t find the exact info now, but I saw it somewhere) looks, to say the least, mediocre. You can watch videos and movies, but for color work - absolutely not. Since my line of work doesn’t require a high-quality screen, it's not a problem.
