Everything You Need to Know About Headphones: A Complete Technical GuideThe choice begins with understanding the design and features.

What characteristics should good headphones have?Guide to key features of headphones
Model overview based on user reviews
The Apple AirPods 4 offer a blend of stylish design and powerful functionality, making them a standout choice for wireless headphones. Clear sound and spatial audio with head tracking enhance the listening experience, providing rich and detailed audio. The headphones boast a long battery life of up to 5 hours, extendable to 30 hours with the charging case, and feature fast charging capabilities. While the price may be a consideration, the integration with the Apple ecosystem ensures seamless connectivity with Apple devices. Although they lack the advanced noise cancellation of the Pro version, they still offer good noise reduction for earbuds. The AirPods 4 are comfortable, compact, and equipped with gesture control, making them a convenient and high-quality option for Apple users.

adequate price for Apple very good noise cancelling great fit in the ear the sound quality, although on par, is significantly inferior to full-size speakers for the same price. |
The AirPods 4 ANC with noise cancellation is truly impressive, especially considering that they are earbuds, not in-ear headphones. When I first put them on and turned on this mode, I was surprised at how well they isolate external sounds. While the noise cancellation isn’t as powerful as the AirPods Pro 2, it’s still at a high level for in-ear headphones. If comfort is important to you and you don’t like in-ear models, the AirPods 4 ANC are a great choice. They offer balanced sound, good microphones, and ease of use. Those who need the most effective noise cancellation should consider the AirPods Pro 2, although their microphones are a bit inferior. Overall, the AirPods 4 are a quality and comfortable option among Apple’s headphones. Sound quality – clear, balanced sound at all frequencies. Compactness – small, light and easy to use. Long battery life – withstand long use without frequent charging. Comfort – do not fall out of the ear, comfortable even with prolonged wearing. Noise cancellation – works well for in-ear headphones. Integration with the Apple ecosystem – work perfectly with MacBook, iPad, iMac and other Apple devices (There really is some Apple magic so quickly and seamlessly that it surprises) So far it has not been revealed (to show up, I will add) |
Some of the best non-in-ear headphones for everyday use, after 8 months of use I haven't found any significant drawbacks, the only disappointment is the lack of even a charging cable in the package for that price. Overall, they are comfortable, stylish earbuds with good and clear sound, featuring decent noise cancellation that copes with surrounding noises at a sufficient volume without any problems. There are various interesting features with spatial audio and they work seamlessly with the iPhone 13 Pro, I recommend them for purchase in their price segment. Good sound, noise cancellation with different modes, hold a charge well, stylish design, fast charging, and easy to use. No charging cable included. |

Popular questions
Do the Apple AirPods 4 have Transparency mode?
No, the standard Apple AirPods 4 have neither Transparency mode nor active noise cancellation. Both features are available only in the separate Apple AirPods 4 Active Noise Cancellation version. If you need modes for noisy environments, be sure to check the full version name when purchasing.Source:General information
How long do AirPods 4 last without recharging?
In practice, a single charge lasted for approximately 6.7 hours of continuous music playback—more than the claimed 5 hours. With the case, the same test yielded around 33.5 hours. This capacity is convenient for a full day, but during extended listening, the earbuds will still need to be periodically placed back in the case.Source:General information
Can I adjust the volume from the headphones?
No, this version has no volume adjustment via the stems—you’ll have to change it on the connected device or through Siri. Squeezes can control playback and calls, while the in-ear sensor supports automatic pausing. For those who often adjust the volume on the go, this is a noticeable limitation.Source:General information
Is it worth getting for Android?
The headphones connect to Android via Bluetooth and are suitable for everyday listening, but some features will be unavailable. There is no dedicated app or Fast Pair for Android, and automatic switching works between Apple devices signed in to the same iCloud account. The model’s full capabilities are unlocked with iPhone, iPad, and Mac.Source:General information
How do they sound?
The sound is warm and sufficiently bass-heavy for open-fit earbuds: the bass and midrange are reproduced evenly, while speech and the main instruments sound clear. The high frequencies are noticeably subdued, so cymbals and fine vocal details may seem dull. Compared with the previous generation, the bass has become more weighty.Source:General information
How does the microphone perform outdoors?
On a quiet street, calls are manageable, but quality noticeably drops near loud traffic. With constant background noise, speech remains intelligible, although the voice sounds thin. Sudden loud sounds can overload the microphones and make the conversation unpleasant for the other person.Source:General information
Won’t they fall out without ear tips?
The fit depends heavily on the shape of your ears: there are no adjustable ear tips or stabilizers here. If the earbuds fit you, they feel lightweight and stay in place even during active movement, but there have been cases of AirPods 4 falling out for owners of previous generations. It is best to try them on before purchasing.Source:General information
Is a separate charging cable required?
Yes, you’ll need your own USB-C cable: it’s not included. The standard charging case charges only via USB-C and supports neither MagSafe nor regular wireless charging. Wireless charging is available on a separate version with Active Noise Cancellation.Source:General information
Video reviews

1. They really sit well in the ear - they don't fall out and don't cause discomfort. Even after a run, they didn't get lost (though they are not for sports).
2. They let you immerse in the music thanks to the noise cancellation. It's at a level where even without music, you are already detached from everything. And once you play a track, everything around you becomes not just secondary, but simply disappears. I can't even hear my kid shouting, and now I begin to understand the parents' saying about having "bananas" in the ears.
3. The compact, neat design and popularity almost make these headphones a must-have gadget among the youth. After my eldest daughter tried them, the youngest also ordered similar ones for her birthday. This is helped by the "budget" price for Apple. Especially if you buy them on the American website during the discount period.
However, there are also disadvantages. No matter how great the sound is—and it is indeed good in this model—it still doesn't reach the level of over-ear and Pro models. Although the highs and lows are clear and non-colored, to me, they're a bit dry, lacking expressiveness. Maybe it's due to the use of more expensive over-ear headphones, which set a higher standard. But for everyday use and especially for communication and studying, these headphones are simply number one.
