Weight up to 900 grams and overall dimensions of 18x14 centimeters, with a thickness of about 6 cm. At first glance, when folded, it looks like anything but a full-fledged and full-color printer. Printers aren't that small. But when you lay it out in its working position, then everything immediately falls into place. Appears and paper trays and a small intelligent 2.7-inch screen to manage the printer and view photos. Works via USB or WiFi. It can also print directly from SDHC, SDXC and similar memory cards, which is also useful. With iPhone 6 through AirPrint prints without any questions. The quality of the prints is excellent, let the resolution of 300 dpi not scare you, everything is OK with the picture. A 10x15 photo prints in about a minute or a little less. I was upset when I found out that the package does not include a battery. Well, mine, how is it??? Can you imagine a mobile phone that comes with a charger but no battery? And I can't, but the swindlers from Canon can. Not only does the printer itself cost almost five mowers, cartridges for a mower apiece, but also buy the battery separately. In short, I had to order, they drove it for more than a week, this pleasure cost 1550 UAH. |
In the compact design of the Canon SELPHY CR1200, it is hard to perceive a full-fledged photo printer. Nevertheless, it is one, although it prints photos at a maximum size of 10x15 cm.
Portability
The printer takes up minimal free space when folded, and only slightly increases in size due to the retractable photo paper tray when ready for use. The body materials of the model are predominantly glossy plastic — not the most practical material in terms of actively collecting scratches, but at the same time highlighting the attractive appearance of the printer. The settings buttons and a 2.7-inch color display are located on the top panel of the device.
Printing Methods
The screen equipped in the model serves not only to display the settings menu but also for viewing photos when printing them from flash drives, which can be connected via a USB port or built-in card reader. Additionally, the Canon SELPHY CR1200 supports wireless printing — its Wi-Fi module allows sending photos directly from a smartphone to the print queue. However, when using the wireless method, users for some reason do not have access to photo editing functions before printing, whereas with external storage devices, you can crop images and apply basic filters (skin enhancement, red-eye removal, etc.).
Dye-sublimation
Color prints are obtained using the dye-sublimation method — the printer contains a cartridge with a film, which has enough ink for a precise number of prints (36 pcs. when using the KP108 cartridge). Color is applied to the photo paper in three successive passes, taking less than one minute. A protective coating is applied on top of the finished print, with the degree of roughness selected in the settings menu.
Prerogative
By purchasing a battery as an additional accessory for the model, the printer can be used autonomously, printing photos on the go. The additional battery charge is enough to print about 50 color prints. The printer is not suitable for working with documents, but that is not expected of it. The model's prerogative is printing small-format photos for a home photo album.
