Cherry MX Red mechanics
Corsair Gaming K68 RGB is a modification of the K68 model, which is equipped with RGB lighting. The model received Cherry MX mechanical switches, which provide full support for NKRO (correct operation even when all buttons are pressed at the same time), fast response and durability without the “fatigue” effect (up to 50 million clicks). In this modification, the Red version is used with low pressing force, without tactile and sound feedback.
Dust and water protection
While Cherry MX switches already provide long life, Corsair has added another layer of dust and splash protection. However, the height of the sleeves on the switches is limited, so you should not “bath” the keyboard. But she will withstand a spilled cup of coffee or a glass of beer.
Flexible key settings
Interestingly, the keyboard does not have additional keys for setting up macros. Instead, the firmware has the ability to configure virtually every single key — you can record any action, programme call, or macro on it. There you can also configure RGB backlighting for the entire keyboard, individual blocks, or individual keys. And it's one of the nicest and most fancy lights we've seen on gaming models. The light here is soft, diffused and even, and there are a ton of backlight modes, including a bunch of unusual ones like a spiral rainbow. A separate highlight is that effects can be layered on top of each other.
Palm rest
It is convenient that the package includes a panel for resting the hands. It fits perfectly into the design of the keyboard, the transition from the main body to the panel is flawless. But the panel design is the simplest. It is made of very thin plastic, and is also fastened with conventional plastic hooks. Corsair for some reason abandoned the more elegant option with magnets. Well, it’s not very convenient that the folding legs do not have a rubberized base.
