New Micron chips
Enthusiasts love Micron's products for their superior quality, which is largely due to the closed production cycle. If other brands bought memory from Micron and assembled their modules based on it, Micron did everything itself. But with the release of DDR4 memory, its position was shaken: zero technical advantages, dubious overclocking and all that. However, with the transition to a new revision of B-die memory chips, there is reason for optimism.
From 2666 MHz to 3200 MHz
How justified it is, the test of the Ballistix memory kit, which is produced by the Crucial subsidiary, will show. This set, which includes 2 sticks of 8 GB each, demonstrated excellent overclocking capabilities and versatility. On Intel motherboards, it starts up quite quickly (thanks to XMP profiles), on AMD, you will have to tinker a bit in search of the optimal combination of settings. In both cases, we managed to get a stable 3200 MHz against the standard 2666 MHz. The main thing is to make sure that the labeling of the strips ends with “6U4B”, otherwise you can run into a variant with old chips that are not particularly friendly with overclocking.
Three colour options for the radiator
We tested the trims with black heatsinks, but Crucial also offers modules in red and white. The heatsinks left a good impression, keeping the temperature in the normal range even with serious overclocking. It is equally important that the height of both brackets does not exceed 39 mm, which guarantees their compatibility with almost any, even the most massive processor cooling systems.
