How to choose RAM?Tips for choosing the optimal RAM parameters that will ensure stable operation and PC performance
Model overview based on user reviews
The Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 2x8Gb is a highly regarded RAM kit, praised for its well-managed RGB lighting and solid, beautiful white radiators. Users appreciate its fast performance, with one review noting it operates at 3400 MHz on a Z390 motherboard and passes memtests successfully. While the RAM's timings for 3200 frequencies and voltage are commendable, some users find the modules tall, potentially interfering with tower coolers. Additionally, the price is considered steep, and there can be issues with motherboard utilities taking over RGB control, requiring software adjustments. Despite these minor drawbacks, the RAM is recommended for its harmonious appearance and reliable performance.

At first, I wanted to get cheaper and simpler RAM on 3k, but the order from Amazon didn't arrive, so I lost my temper and got a kit of 2*8 3k with RGB and didn't regret it.

The Good Old Vengeance Now with Lighting

The trend of RGB lighting clearly shows how challenging it is for RAM manufacturers these days. The producers of crystals can be counted on one hand, so attracting customers with price is not an option. Nor is it with additional features, since RAM doesn't have that many. So they're left to play around with radiator designs and LEDs. In the case of the Vengeance RGB Pro modules, the buyer will get not only a beautiful design but also the traditional high quality of Corsair along with decent performance.

Familiar Design

The design of the Corsair Vengeance RGB looks completely familiar for this lineup: dark radiators on both sides are connected by a small ridge in which a thick LED strip is mounted. The lighting system uses Corsair's own software, iCUE, which is considered a downside in some reviews. In reality, iCUE has long been compatible with ASUS Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and MSI Mystic Light, although the synchronization itself can sometimes be glitchy. It most often occurs with Asus products. As for the radiators, they have been slightly improved to better maintain thermal stability during extreme overclocking. The radiator sizes are very modest — even under tower coolers, they install without any issues.

Two Sides of the Same Coin

Only one thing was disappointing — the test version used chips not from Samsung or Micron, but from Hynix. This imposed certain limitations on overclocking on both Intel and AMD-based motherboards. Changing the primary timings led to instability, and few would bother with tuning the secondary and tertiary timings. As a result, a pair of modules with a frequency of 2666 MHz managed to reach only up to 3000 MHz. Judging by online reviews, you can find modules for sale based on Micron memory, which overclock very well. For example, the base version with a frequency of 2666 MHz overclocked easily to 3600 MHz with a simple voltage increase to 1.36 V.
