Micron returns to the elite

Micron is one of the few memory manufacturers that offers customers finished products from its own components. Thanks to this, Micron chips overclocked perfectly and were usually used in top-end products from other famous brands. So it was in the days of DDR2 and DDR3, but with the release of the new standard, Micron could not offer anything new to its partners, gradually descending into the second tier. However, a few years ago they switched to a new revision of memory chips and are striving to regain their former positions.

Excellent overclocking potential

For example, the Ballistix series, which is produced by a subsidiary brand of Crucial, received excellent press and in 2019 managed to break into the tops of RAM sales. This set, which includes 2 sticks of 8 GB each, demonstrated excellent overclocking capabilities and versatility. On motherboards from Intel, everything starts up pretty quickly, on AMD you will have to play around with the timings. In both cases, we managed to get a stable 3600 MHz against the standard 3000 MHz. If you weaken the CAS Latency, then you can count on all 3800 MHz.

We tested the trims with black heatsinks and RGB lighting, but Crucial also offers modules in red and white. The backlight works with most popular RGB sync standards. The feel of the aluminium heatsinks left a good impression, keeping the temperature in the normal range even with furious overclocking. It is equally important that the height of both brackets does not exceed 39 mm, which guarantees their compatibility with almost any, even the most massive processor cooling systems. In general, this kit will be a much better choice for overclocking the system than the previous Ballistix brackets on older Micron chips.
