My car is already considered old by today's standards (over 10 years), and the need for minor repairs and maintenance is becoming more frequent. Ideally, I should sell it and buy something not older than three years. However, there are two factors preventing this. Firstly, over the last 10 years, the quality of materials in car manufacturing has not improved (and the lifespan of modern cars is steadily decreasing). Secondly, I simply don't have the money for such a purchase right now. My brother is facing the exact same problems. We became car owners almost simultaneously, and his car is a year older than mine. We try to handle repairs and maintenance ourselves whenever possible, and to make it easier, we decided to buy one set of professional tools to share. Our garages are in the same cooperative, and walking an extra 150 meters for the toolset is easier than buying two of those quite expensive kits. The first thing to note is the convenience. The sturdy plastic case is made of impact-resistant polypropylene, opens and closes easily, and securely holds all 94 items. This last point is important because I know what a mess tools can be from firsthand experience. I repair consumer electronics and understand that disorder and confusion in large tool sets can waste a lot of time. The sets are well composed, with an excellent selection of sockets for half-inch and quarter-inch mounts, spark plug sockets, many different screwdriver bits, two extension bars, universal joints, and two ratchet wrenches. The wrenches, by the way, are very handy with rubber grips on the handles and a ratchet mechanism equipped with a lock. In short, the set, as they say, is suitable for all occasions. The plastic coating on the ratchet keys is quite thin and has already been scratched down to the metal in some places. I think it would be better to use chrome or nickel electroplating for corrosion protection. |
I have been using this set for over 2 years. The set is good in every way, from the sturdy case to the quality of the parts themselves. 94 pieces of tools turned out to be more than enough for unforeseen situations both on the road and at home. And some pieces, like bits, have never even been taken out of the case and have even rusted a bit (as seen in the photo). It would have been better if they replaced them with a couple of open-end wrenches in the most common sizes because there are such bits that you will never see a bolt in your life that can be unscrewed with them.
