Model overview based on user reviews
The Kingston DataTraveler Exodia USB flash drive is praised for its affordable price, reliable performance, and high read speeds. It offers a range of storage capacities from 32GB to 256GB, catering to various needs. Users appreciate its sturdy design and 5-year warranty, which adds to its value. However, some users have noted issues with the flash drive heating up during use, particularly in USB 2.0 ports, and a limitation on the maximum file size that can be transferred at once. The flash drive's actual storage capacity may be slightly less than advertised due to Kingston's policy of reserving space for potential defective memory cells. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Kingston DataTraveler Exodia is considered a good option for everyday use, offering a balance of speed, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

A sturdy yet budget-friendly USB flash drive with a USB 3.1 interface. Sturdiness is embodied in the quality materials and assembly, high read speed (over 100 Kbit/sec, could not measure more accurately), and a five-year warranty. The budget aspect is evident in the limitation of the file size that can be written at one time. High reading speed, dual packaging (can store more data), very affordable price The maximum size of a single recorded file is limited to 4 GB. |
Bought for 139 UAH on 11.02.2022. Color – black. The flash drive has no indicator. It stays barely warm during use. The cap holds very securely, and there's a distinct click when snapped shut. The 5-year warranty is pleasing. The flash drive's volume doesn’t match the stated nominal capacity (64GB claimed, but actually 61.8GB, with 57.6GB available for use in NTFS 57.5GB). But this isn’t a defect, just Kingston's policy (partitioning, reserve, etc.). In actuality, through a USB 3.0 port, the flash drive can be fully written in 1h45m (9.4MB/s), through USB 2.0 – in 2h30m (6.5MB/s); reading the flash drive through USB 3.0 takes 12.5 minutes (78MB/s), USB 2.0 – 40 minutes (25MB/s). The AxoFlashTest program shows speed: through USB 3.0 port: read 85 write 10, speed class: 10. Through USB 2.0 port: read 24, write 6-7, speed class: 6. CrystalDiskMark shows about the same numbers. Overall, it's okay. I just wish for more progress. The last time I bought a Kingston DataTraveler 112 (8GB) USB 2.0 flash drive on sale for 99 UAH back in 2011 (or 2012), and the write speed there (after re-flashing) was the same as this one - up to 10MB/s. (By the way, that flash drive also lacked about 0.25GB of actual volume, with only 7.2GB available instead of the expected 7.45GB. Multiplying the difference (7.45-7.2) by 8 (since 64/8 =8), we get our 2GB memory shortfall. Apparently, this company policy didn’t just start yesterday. Over 10 years, I would like to see an increase in write speed. 5-year warranty, does not overheat. It is possible, but not certain, that due to the company's policy of reducing the actual storage volume (supposedly to reserve for potential defective memory cells and ensure safety), the flash drive will live long and happily. for the price of 139 UAH, what I bought - I haven't seen any drawbacks yet. But I haven't had a chance to use it much yet, only just bought it, only tested with programs. just bought Kingston DataTraveler Exodia i recommend it should buy |
A flash drive was needed to transfer significant files and documents. I opted for Kingston, as I had previously owned a flash drive from this brand. Barely heats up, doesn't lag, even survived washing while closed. Lost the cap (it was securely attached, just put it somewhere and couldn't find it). |
