Powerful grinder for working with large discs

Having at hand such a grinder as Makita GA9020R, you can take on almost any task. It is equipped with a 2200 W electric motor, the high power of which is slightly “tamed” with the help of a starting current limiter, which ensures a smooth start without jerks. This tool is designed to work with large disks. The spindle can be equipped with cutting and grinding wheels with a diameter of 230 mm and a thickness of up to 6.5 mm, as well as large-sized disk wire brushes. The manufacturer in the instruction manual prohibits the use of only diamond cups. That is, it is not worth grinding concrete with the help of this grinder (there are special grinders for this), but for other operations it is just right.

Professional approach to instrument design

The ability to perform various types of cutting and grinding operations is provided not only by a powerful motor that “pulls” heavy loads well. Important factors are also the ability of the motor to run continuously for a long time (due to efficient cooling) and its high reliability (the armature and stator windings are perfectly protected from all-penetrating dust that forms during sawing or during grinding). To make it convenient for the user to hold the grinder in any position, the tool is equipped with an additional three-position handle. It can be screwed into the gearbox housing from the left, right or top, depending on which position is most suitable for a particular operation. You can not ignore the small plastic lining on the gearbox. Thanks to its presence, the tool during a pause or a smoke break can be placed on a polished surface without fear of damaging the processed material. Therefore, the grinder Makita GA9020R is especially loved by craftsmen who cut granite and process artificial stone. They are also attracted by the fact that original dust removal systems are produced for this model, allowing you to collect all the dust and dirt on the fly with the help of a construction vacuum cleaner. It is also interesting to note that for the angle grinder of this size, a special large Makita 824958-7 case is produced, into which an angle grinder with all accessories fits.

As an alternative, you can consider a slightly more expensive Makita GA9020RF - exactly the same angle grinder, but with a quick-lock nut for fixing interchangeable equipment without using a key.
