How does an expensive dash cam differ from a cheap one?Is it really possible to save money on buying a dash camera?

How to choose a dashcam? What are the key factors to consider when choosing a dashcam?
Model overview based on user reviews
The Neoline G-Tech X-74 dashcam features a magnetic mount and a polarizing filter, offering quick installation and glare reduction during the day. However, users report several issues, including inaccurate GPS alerts, screen flickering, and rebooting problems that require frequent adjustments. The nighttime video quality is poor, though one user found the night mode helpful by switching to black and white. The daytime video quality is average, with difficulties capturing details at high speeds. Users also mention the need to manually check for firmware updates, as notifications are unreliable. Despite some positive aspects, such as the radar database and emergency recording access, the recurring technical issues and poor night performance lead to mixed reviews, with some users expressing regret over their purchase.
Pros
Cons
Successful recorder with radar database. If the selection criterion is night shooting, then the night mode in this model will help you. 1. Radar database: it even informs about rear-facing cameras and average speed cameras. 2. At night, the night mode saves the day: the picture becomes black and white, revealing all the details. By the way, I recommend removing the filter from the lens at night. 3. During the day, the filter eliminates glare. 4. Quick access to emergency recording on the side of the recorder. 5. Magnetic mount for quick installation or removal. all is good |
6) When selecting the recording format HD 60fps, the recorder shifts the viewing angle by 30 degrees to the right and captures the roadside. Tech support suggested repositioning the device (which cannot be adjusted horizontally) or using another mode. 7) The recorder alerts about radars twice, always. First, when approaching the camera, then right after passing it. If there are several cameras in a row, this becomes annoying. Support promises to fix this glitch with a new firmware, which you won't know about unless you check for updates on their site manually. My order No.7769 from 07/12/2019. I do not recommend buying this recorder. The cherry on top was tech support's response to my remarks on the device rebooting: "Reinstall the same firmware until the device stops rebooting." Curtains. Magnetic mount (but there is a drawback to this method), polarizing filter, technical support responds quite quickly. 1) I do not receive the newsletter about firmware and radar database updates. I contacted support, unsubscribed and resubscribed - it was fruitless. You will have to check for updates manually. 2) The GPS determines the location inaccurately, or it's a firmware glitch. I'll explain how it works: for example, we are driving on one of two parallel roads that are 50 meters apart. The recorder alerts us about a camera on the parallel road, then about a camera on our road. As we approach a camera perpendicular to the road, the recorder alerts us again. So, the alert algorithm is not properly configured. If there's a radar on your right or left, you'll know about it. 3) The recorder does not work properly immediately upon installation. The screen flickers and the recorder cycles through reboots from the first use. If you move the already installed recorder in its mount, you can observe the screen stopping and starting its flickering, while rebooting. Possibly the issue is with the contact group. If you remove and reinstall it 2-3 times, the problem disappears. But you have to do this every time before driving, which is already annoying. 4) Radar database update. I sent support the coordinates of three radars that definitely work, but they didn’t add them, even though they asked to be informed of their coordinates. 5) The picture quality at night is terrible, as with all budget recorders. The daytime picture is better, but at speed, you can't make out the numbers of oncoming cars (Quality Full HD Max). Continuation in the comment... use Neoline G-Tech X-74 few months |
The quality of filming during the day is fine, but at night it’s simply terrible!!! Before this there was a cheaper recorder, it shot much better ((( Magnetic mount. It looks very well made.
