Inexpensive 32-inch HD Ready TV with digital tuner and good multimedia player. This model is perfect for buyers with a limited low-cost, for whom the SMART component is not important. Despite the low price, Philips 32PHT4101 received a quite decent screen with a resolution of 1366x768. Thanks to Digital Crystal Clear technology, the image has bright (up to 200 cd / m²) and rich, but at the same time realistic colours.

HD Ready resolution characteristics may seem insufficient, but in fact the pixel density is 19 pixels / cm, which makes the picture look solid from a distance of more than one and a half metres and individual dots are simply invisible. The TV is equipped with a dual TV tuner that works equally well with analogue and digital (DVB-T / T2, DVB-C) television broadcasts. An alternative to television can be multimedia video and audio content on USB drives, which is played by the built-in multimedia player. Almost all common file formats are supported. You can also connect a laptop or personal computer to the TV via the HDMI port. Component, composite and SCART connectors are provided for analogue connections. Sound is provided by two full-range speakers (2x8 W), Clear Sound technology and Incredible Surround simulation are supported.

Not everyone needs SmartTV support. That is why in the lineup of leading TV manufacturers there are simple models without unnecessary bells and whistles, which include the Philips 32PHT4101.

Managing Everything

The TV can be used both for broadcasting on-air and cable TV programs, and as a multimedia player — two HDMI ports and one USB output allow you to connect external content sources (laptop, flash drive, etc.) to the model. Moreover, both HDMI connectors support the EasyLink protocol, designed to unite all paired devices under control using one remote control.

Connection ports

The placement of the HDMI ports raises some questions as they face in the opposite direction from the back of the TV. If it is mounted on a wall, for which a VESA 100x100 mm mount is used, access to the connectors becomes difficult. There is no such problem with the USB port, since it is brought to the side.

Screen

The thin body of the model is created according to the UltraSlim concept. Its entire front part is occupied by a display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels framed by glossy frames. The picture on the screen boasts natural colour reproduction, and the “improver” Picture Performance Index further enhances the clarity, dynamic range and contrast of the image, depending on the broadcast scene. If the display resolution seems to someone too low for a 32-inch diagonal, there is an alternative version of the Philips 32PFT4101 TV with a FullHD screen.

The power consumption of the TV is only 30 watts, which has little effect on rising electricity bills. If we exclude the mirror location of the digital block of keys on the remote control, it will not be possible to present significant claims to the model. The Philips 32PHT4101 can be recommended for a country house, an elderly parent's home or a place where the TV will be required to perform classic duties without the need for an Internet connection.
