I first saw Ambilight from Philips on a TV in an advertisement a long time ago. But, as it turned out, the effect in reality and in a commercial are very different things. In short, it turned out to be a very atmospheric thing. Perhaps this is why my new TV is called Philips. The exterior design is simple and discreet. The screen diagonal is large, about 125 centimeters. For UltraHD resolution, this is exactly the same size in which there is already a very significant difference with regular FullHD. Thanks to the high-quality IPS matrix, the image in native resolution looks impeccable. Ambilight is magical. I really like this proprietary Philips feature. It can be configured to match the current audio, the current color scheme of the screen, or simply shine a certain color. I, like most users, like the second option best. The TV can work with a variety of, or rather any, TV signal formats from simple analog to digital cable, terrestrial or satellite signals. High-quality Polish assembly. 24 months full warranty. I expected better performance from the scaling technology. 1080p-video still looks decent, but anything below 720p turns into a "soap opera" in the literal sense of the word. The Google Play app store is very under-optimized. It seems that Philips had no other choice but to unlock the installation of apps from flash drives in the form of apk-files. In general, Smart TV by the end of 2016 could have been more agile. I hope this is a software issue (rather than a weak processor) and will be fixed in firmware updates. |
The brainchild of Philips has a special role in the shelf of “smart” TVs — the image seems to go beyond its screen, the merit of which lies on the shoulders of the intelligent backlight Ambiligth.
Intelligent backlight
Coloured LEDs are located along the short sides. With their help, the wall behind the TV is painted in a colour that is the main one on the corresponding side of the screen. In addition to creating a wow effect, the backlight provides a visual increase in the size of the picture and distracts attention from the frames around the 43-inch display.
Android
The software part of the TV is based on the AndroidTV platform. At its core, this is an adapted version of the familiar Android OS, on the basis of which the lion's share of the smartphone market successfully functions. The key advantage of the shell is the huge number of compatible applications and games available for download from the Google Play Market.
omnivorous
The TV plays almost any video file format with a resolution up to 4K. It also supports broadcasting online video, but for these purposes you will need a high bandwidth of the data transmission channel. The lack of speed is especially felt when connecting to a network wirelessly (via Wi-Fi).
Communication with gadgets
To simplify navigation through menu items or provide the ability to voice control the TV, a proprietary application for smartphones helps. Another interesting “trick” is connected with mobile gadgets, called Google Chromcast. Its meaning is to broadcast content from your phone, tablet or laptop directly to the TV screen. As a result, we are presented with a modern model with advanced functionality, which, in addition, will become an adornment of any home interior.
- Line input — 3.5 mm jack

Ambilight
Philips technology, the essence of which is to project a glow that is soft for the eyes onto the wall behind the TV, which visually enlarges the TV screen. In this case, the colour of the backlight changes in accordance with the picture on the screen and corresponds to the colours of the main image.
