Signature Ambilight
Debuting on the market in the spring of 2018, the Philips 50-inch TV is positioned as an ultra-thin panel, although it has a thickness standard for its class of just over 6 cm. The bezel and the original stand are made in dark silver colours. But the main design feature of the Philips 50PUS7303 is the 3-sided Ambilight backlight.
LEDs on the edges of the panel paint the wall behind in the tone of the reproduced picture. Firstly, it visually enlarges the display, and, secondly, it makes the TV even more attractive element of the interior.
Fast processor
The Philips 50PUS7303 uses a powerful P5 Perfect Picture processor — the latest development from the manufacturer. Previously, this "engine" has successfully proved itself on the flagship OLED panels, for example, on the Philips 55POS9002.
Thanks to the UltraHD processor, the display of the model shows a clear image (lower resolution video is software enhanced using Ultra Resolution technology). The panel handles well with the reproduction of dynamic scenes, and also provides an acceptable level of brightness (up to 350 cd / m2), realistic and rich colour reproduction, especially when playing HDR content.
The picture looks balanced in both dark and bright rooms, for which Micro Dimming Pro automatic contrast adjustment technology is responsible.
Android TV
Philips 50PUS7303 is powered by Android TV. The platform opens up access to numerous Google Play apps and services, and offers easy pairing with other Android devices. Thanks to the convenient multimedia remote control, you can give commands by voice or gestures. Smart TV works quite quickly, although in general freezes occur, and the shell interface itself seems rather complicated and overloaded.
Among other features of the model, it is worth highlighting a 2-channel audio system, the presence of popular interfaces and TV tuners, and the “omnivorousness” of the built-in video player.
All in all, the Philips 50PUS7303 is a new and attractively priced 50-inch 4K TV with HDR and signature backlighting that could be a big selling point.
