Tourism for me is a pleasant hobby, but nothing more. I didn't actually go on regular camping trips until I met my future wife. By the way, she is not very fanatic about hiking tours, but her parents are something - her mother is a professional climber, and her father is a parachuting master. They themselves often go on a wide variety of expeditions and trekking tours, and the fact that their daughter does not share these hobbies not only oppressed them, but definitely upset them. And then they got a son-in-law, that is, me))) In general, now at least twice a year my wife and I go on hiking trips with them and this is a wonderful pastime. A company of up to 20 people gathers on such a trip, and it is always fun and provocatively. I bought a tent in the spring, just before the May trip to the Carpathians. It's not the cheapest double option, but it's worth it. Suitable for three seasons and we consistently use it in spring and autumn, and also sometimes get out into nature in the summer. It is comfortable for two people, there is a lot of space, because the dimensions of the base of the inner tent are 220 by 150 cm. The two-layer design is mounted on a lightweight but durable frame made of fiberglass tubes. The assembly is quite simple, but the skill in this matter is required. So before the first trip, be sure to do a trial installation. The scarf is well ventilated, two ventilation windows help in this matter. Very good protection against water, not a drop falls inside. It weighs quite a bit, a little over 3 kilograms. The height of the inner tent is less than 110 centimeters, which is not particularly comfortable for me with my height of 188 cm. However, among trekking tents, there are no "giants" because they need to be light enough to carry. And the tall camping options, which would be comfortable for me, are not suitable for hiking due to their heavy weight. The floor is durable and waterproof, but very thin. The nylon material is strong, but we’re still constantly worried about damaging it. |
The model of the Czech brand Pinguin is positioned as a trekking tent. When folded, it requires little space (45x17x17 cm), and a moderate weight of 3.2 kg will not be a problem even for a novice hiker or cyclist.
Reliable materials
Pinguin Bora 2 is characterized by a two-layer construction. The outer polyester awning is characterized by good moisture resistance (4000 mm), is not sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, and does not lose its flexibility with temperature changes. The corners and seams are additionally reinforced: stitched with a special tape that increases their strength and prevents tearing under strong tension.
The inner tent is made of breathable RipStop Breathable Nylon material. The bottom is made of nylon with a polyurethane coating, which gives increased resistance to moisture (up to 10,000 mm of water column) and prevents it from penetrating inside in the rainiest weather. As a result, the tent is ready for any weather conditions typical of our latitudes from early spring to late autumn.
Thoughtful design
The frame of the model is formed by intersecting fibreglass arcs with a diameter of 8.5 mm. You can increase wind resistance by using wind braces, loops for which are provided on the sidewalls.
Pinguin Bora 2 received one entrance with a vestibule. The latter will allow you to easily place all the luggage and offers several opening options: both in the centre and on the side. On the sides of the tent there are two ventilation windows designed to provide air circulation. The entrance is duplicated with a mosquito net.
User comfort
After assembly, the tent forms a hemispherical space for rest and lodging for the night with a bed size of 220x150 cm. It is more than enough for two users. Inside there are a couple of side pockets for things. The upper part also has a stretch shelf and a loop for a lantern.
In general, Pinguin Bora 2 is one of the best 2-man tents in terms of price and quality. It is suitable both for hiking in the warm season, and just for outdoor recreation: on the shore of a lake or river.
