Rational Design

The model has an anti-resonance chassis, so you can not be afraid of sound distortion. The compact and slim metal body is durable, well built, and available in black and silver to fit into any modern interior.

Wide range of connectivity options

The developers were pleased with the rationality of the front panel. In addition to the volume control, there are 15 control buttons with a full range of functions, including Bypass Direct and bass/treble adjustment. A compact display helps you navigate the settings, which shows all the information. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone output (mini-Jack) and even a USB connector for connecting apple devices and transmitting audio via a USB cable, as the instructions say.

Unlike the front panel, the rear panel is simply replete with interfaces and connectors. In addition to the standard set of analogue connectors, there are 2 pairs of digital ones, a preamp output, 2 more USB inputs for PC and charging, 2 trigger outputs, Rotel Link for remote control, and as many as 4 pairs of acoustic outputs. The icing on the cake is Bluetooth with aptX support.

Decent sound

The amplifier perfectly warms up speakers with a power of 60 watts per channel, with an impedance of 8 ohms and operates with a range of 10 – 100,000 Hz. The output sound is very convincing; it retains its integration even at high volumes, delighting the listener with power and stability. The performance from the digital inputs is almost the same as from the analogue ones, only the high frequencies are a little brighter, which makes them more expressive.

The A-12 has a built-in DAC capable of receiving files up to 24-bit/48kHz. It also slightly compensates for the lack of support for FLAC and Apple Lossless formats via the front USB, which only accepts WMA up to 16-bit/48kHz, AAC, MP3 and WAV.

All in all, the Rotel RA-12 is a very talented amplifier that is a pleasure to listen to. But not cheap either. Almost $1000.
