The card reader from the American company SanDisk, which has made a name for itself in the development and production of data carriers, seems to be floating in the air. This impression is created thanks to the elegant silver legs, which raise the body of the device above the surface of the table at a slight inclination.

Such an elegant style of execution of the model was chosen for a reason — in this way the manufacturer took care of the convenience of access to the slots for installing memory cards. There are 4 of them in the design of the card reader: a triple of connectors on a wide edge is designed for SD, CF and MS cards, and a small slot on the top edge can accept a microSD standard drive. Each port has its own activity indicator, which glows blue when the connection is active, and blinks when data is being exchanged.

Speed characteristics

In conjunction with a high-speed Lexar Professional 1066x Compact Flash drive, the card reader demonstrates an outstanding data transfer speed : reading information is carried out at speeds up to 160 MB / s, and writing — about 135 MBs. SD cards show more modest results — with fast drives of this format, the SanDisk Image Mate All-in-One USB 3.0 is able to overclock to the 100 MBs mark. All these figures are typical for the USB 3.0 connection method, but the device is also backward compatible with the slower USB 2.0.

With a memorable appearance and excellent performance, the card reader is a kind of intermediary in the rapid exchange of data between memory cards and information storage on the computer's hard drive. With proper handling, it will faithfully serve its owner for a long period of time, but if not handled carefully, there is a possibility of bending the contacts in the CF memory card slot, which can later lead to problems with reading data from the aforementioned drives.
