USB 2.0 is gradually being replaced by more modern and advanced standards, but still does not lose popularity. At the same time, card readers and USB hubs with such a plug are quite compatible with ports of newer versions (except for USB Type C, which uses a different type of socket) — except that the connection characteristics will be limited by the capabilities of the 2.0 standard.
