The "air" version, in the sense of a lightweight version of the SJCAM SJ6 Legend action camera, differs from its older brother by the absence of an additional service screen on the front panel. The device is made in a rectangular form factor typical for the action camera class with a lens protruding from the front of the case. The built-in optics capture a viewing angle of about 166°. It has acquired support for both touch input and button control, which is especially relevant underwater (paired with the SJCAM SJ6 Legend Air aquabox, it can withstand diving to a depth of 30 m). In addition, the action camera can be remotely controlled from a smartphone via Wi-Fi. The main thing is that the functional SJCAM Zone application is pre-installed in the memory of the mobile gadget.

The model deserves special praise for the implemented gyrostabilization system, which successfully suppresses image shaking when shooting "on the go". And among the special programs on board the action camera, underwater shooting and video recorder mode stand out (the device starts recording when external power is supplied).
