Versatile 2019 mid-format line of business laptops with thin bezel, glossy 15.6-inch FullHD IPS displays with good colour reproduction and excellent viewing angles. The manufacturer is positioned as products of the middle or upper price category. Suitable for solving any business-oriented and office tasks, they will be useful in scientific or engineering activities, and will help in the educational process.
Any of the models in the family can play the role of an entry-level mobile workstation or a multifunctional home PC. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 15.6 laptops are dressed in elegant cases made of reinforced aluminium alloy, 15.9 mm thick and weighing 1.95 kg. An impressive level of peak single- and multi-threaded performance is provided by 4-core 8th generation Intel Core i5 / i7 processors (Kaby Lake Refresh, 14 nm), which work in conjunction with 8/16 GB DDR4 RAM (soldered on the board) and high-speed NVMe SSD storage from 256 GB to 1 TB.
Thanks to the high-performance discrete graphics card Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q, any of the models in the line shows a consistently high frame rate in all game projects of 2015-2020 at medium-high, high, and sometimes even maximum graphics settings. For comfortable work with text, an island keyboard with backlight is provided. Important pluses also include good battery life (up to 9 hours).

Fresh Tech
The largest model in the Xiaomi ultrabook range is the Notebook Pro 15.6. Unlike the 12 and 13-inch Xiaomi laptops, which use Intel Core processors from the eighth, seventh, and even sixth generations, the 15-inch models are exclusively built on the latest 8th Gen Kaby Lake Refresh chips. You can choose between the Core i5-8250U and Core i7-8550U — both quad-core, eight-thread processors with a base clock speed of 1.6 – 1.8 GHz and Turbo Boost auto-overclocking up to 3.4 – 4 GHz.
Gaming Ultrabook
The RAM capacity of the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 15.6 can range from 8 to 16 GB, while the solid-state drive strictly has 256 GB (plus an empty slot for a second M.2 format SSD). The graphics card is also standardized — the GeForce MX150, which, although not officially considered a gaming card, can handle Witcher 3 and PUBG on medium settings, not to mention simpler games.
Unexpected Benefit
At first glance, the price of the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 15.6 may not seem low if you only look at the "tech specs." However, to the powerful processor and graphics card, you should add the thin all-metal body (from which, over time, the paint may peel off at the corners), a battery that is one and a half times more capacious than most of its "classmates" (60 versus 40 Wh), and an IPS screen with Full HD resolution and Gorilla Glass (non-touch). Considering all this, Xiaomi has managed to create one of the most well-equipped "fifteens" for its price on the market.

- Juicy screen (yes, glossy, but excellent color reproduction and 72% NTSC coverage is just awesome), for its tasks doesn't need more than 60 Hz - Long battery life, 6 hours of surfing at near-maximum brightness, plus fast charging in an hour, power supply - 90 W - Got it for 78k rubles with 1050, more than enough performance, can play many games on medium settings, can also be used for video rendering - Sound is good both via wire and on speakers - Ideal touchpad, huge and convenient - Keyboard also very pleasant, perfect size and key positioning - Fast memory, the system flies, plus a free slot - The build is simply perfect - Has all the necessary ports, what more could you wish for The dimensions are excellent, you can carry it to university every day (though not as often due to remote work) - Not the brightest screen, the bezels around the display are slightly annoying. It heats up noticeably in games, I did undervolting on both the CPU and the GPU, and it became just great, I forgot about this problem. Otherwise, it's just a fantastic laptop, excellent from all sides. |
1) Aluminum body. 2) IPS panel 3) Option to install a 2nd SSD drive. 4) USB Type-C port for charging. 5) Good performance in games and editing programs. 6) Weight of 1.9 kg. 7) Thin body. 1) Strong heating of the case around the radiators. 2) Under very high and prolonged loads, even with the power connected to the grid, the charge can deplete. 3) IPS matrix delay (affects games when vertical sync is connected) 4) Slightly smudgy case. 5) There are now more high-performance laptops in the same price segment (the laptop was purchased in 2019 for 69,000). |
I will describe my feelings using the laptop for 5 months. I have the 2018 model, i5 15``. The laptop was purchased for work/medium-complex tasks. Portability, appearance, touchpad, screen, charging, technical specifications, and Windows (oops) were important. I will immediately say that among Windows laptops, this one is the king on all these points! There's simply no better one at any price! I'll immediately compare it with the MacBook (though I've only handled it for 20 minutes, over two occasions). I'll immediately say Mac is overall better as a laptop, but that's not considering the price! Let's go... Touchpad - most important, everything is just top-notch, accurate, pleasant, force touch is sturdy, but I even like that. You can work without a mouse, just like on a Mac. The Mac's touchpad is better. But here, it is excellent. Keyboard - (also very important), they say it's simply copied from the 2015 Mac. Very pleasant and accurate. Could be better, but it's already very good. A bit stiff too, which is a + for me. By the way, the 2017 Air seemed worse to me. Screen - very good full HD (but I want retina, secretly, for a fifteen, for thirteen the screen would be super). Fast charging-big battery (in my 15`). Fire. Portable charger. The laptop's weight is one of the best on the market. In my model, there have been no glitches during this time. Performance is excellent. In the 2017 version, I heard about glitches, which were eliminated over time, but now dealers are flashing the bios-drivers-windows, so check in your store. Aluminum body - fire. Overall, folks, this is the king laptop, no kidding! Probably not as reliable as top brands, and Mac - but only time will tell. Portability, touchpad, keyboard, screen, appearance, charger, battery capacity, technical specifications, build quality, materials Windows, webcam, reliability over N years(?) |

If you sit down to play Metro: Exodus, the laptop heats up significantly. But not enough to cause discomfort. The radiators are located around the F1-F4 keys and the power button F10. In these areas under heavy loads, it gets very hot. This is also influenced by the fact that the body is aluminum and essentially becomes a radiator.
The fingerprint scanner works fine. Sometimes it might not recognize the fingerprint, but usually, everything works fine on the second try.
Overall, the touchpad did not disappoint. It's pleasant to use.
