Back height
The height of the back provided in the design of the product. Usually, it is measured from the seat to the top edge of the backrest.
It makes sense to specifically look for high (80 cm or more) backs if you want to get furniture with support under the back of your head.
Mattress filling
The material used as a filler in a complete swing mattress.
— Foam rubber. Soft material with a characteristic porous structure, usually based on polyurethane foam. In general, it has a low cost; however, the specific properties and overall quality of the foam may vary depending on the price range. The common features of all such materials are softness, as well as good air and moisture permeability. The most advanced types of foam rubber can have a “memory effect”, although this feature is almost never found in mattresses for garden swings.
— Sintepon. Non-woven synthetic fibre material. Differs in volume and at the same time softness, provides excellent thermal insulation while being one of the most inexpensive fillers. The specific properties and quality of the synthetic winterizer, usually, depend on the price category of the mattress; it should be noted that inexpensive varieties of this material do not tolerate getting wet and can clump as they wear.
— Foam rubber / synthetic winterizer. The combination of foam rubber and synthetic winterizer. About each of these materials separately, see above, and their combination is usually implemented as follows: the inner part of the hardware of the mattress, made of foam rubber, is sheathed with a layer of padding polyester. This allows you to achieve greater softness and better thermal insulation than using pure foam rubber.
— Holcon. Synthetic material b...ased on polyester fibers twisted in a spiral. Due to this, the surface is sufficiently dense and elastic, capable of quickly restoring its shape after pressing. Another advantage is that Holcon is not afraid of getting wet and is able to even endure washing in a washing machine (although a mattress with such a filler may be incompatible with a “washer” for other reasons, this point should be clarified separately). At the same time, the price of such a filler is relatively low.
— Hollow fiber. Another material based on synthetic polyester fibers, in this case one of the key features is the hollow structure of the fibers. Thanks to it, the hollow fiber turns out to be light, voluminous and elastic, has excellent thermal insulation characteristics and at the same time passes air and moisture well ("breathes"). In addition, the advantages of this material include durability and the ability to resist caking for a long time. — Sintepukh. A synthetic analogue of natural bird fluff, one of the varieties of non-woven materials based on polyester fibers — in this sense, sintepukh is a "relative" of holcon and hollow fiber. This material consists of microscopic polyester fibers, in which there are cavities, thereby reducing the overall weight. To ensure water-repellent properties, the fibers are treated with silicone, and in order for the filler not to clump and retain elasticity, they are twisted into spirals. Another type of synthetic down is also produced, where the fibers are twisted into balls — it resists deformation even better. This material is positioned as environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic, it allows the skin to "breathe" and has a fairly long service life.
Filler thickness
The thickness of the filler used in the complete swing mattress.
With the same material (see “Mattress filler”), a
thicker mattress is softer, sitting through it does not feel the same way; this is especially important if metal mesh or springs are used as a support (see "Seat"). On the other hand, greater thickness has a corresponding effect on weight, price and ease of movement. Therefore, manufacturers in each case try to choose the thickness in such a way as to achieve the optimal ratio between these moments, and in general, this characteristic is more of a reference than practically significant.
Backrest adjustment
Availability in a product of an
adjustable back.
This function is found mainly in classic swings (see "Type"). It means that the angle of the backrest can be changed as desired. The number of backrest positions can be different; however, anyway, this function provides additional comfort and expands the possibilities for customizing furniture to your tastes.
Note that the ability to tilt the backrest to a horizontal position is not considered an adjustment, this is a separate function — see "Reclining backrest".
Cup holder
The presence of a
cup holder in the design of the product — a specialized stand for glasses and relatively small bottles. Such a stand usually has a characteristic recess, where a container with a drink is installed; Thanks to this design, the chance of accidentally knocking over the container and spilling the contents is minimized. Coasters are often made in pairs — on both sides of the seat.
Lighting
The swing has its own
lighting system. Most often, this function is performed by an LED lamp located at the top of the frame. Due to the efficiency of LEDs in such lamps, it is possible to use battery power, which is often done — thus, the lighting is completely autonomous and does not require connection to a power outlet.
