Unfolding mechanism

A type of mechanism for folding and unfolding screens of a foldable type, as well as portable screens in which this function is provided (see "Installation").

— Manual. The simplest type of mechanism — unfolding and folding the screen is carried out using manual force. Typically, such a mechanism has a coil with a spring and a stopper. When unfolding, you need to pull the screen outward by a special handle, overcoming the resistance of the spring, until the coil is on the stopper, and when folding, remove the coil from the stopper, and the spring itself will pull the screen inside. The advantages of manual mechanisms are simplicity, low weight, low cost, reliability and battery life, because. they do not require any power supply. As a consequence, this type of mechanism is found in both foldable and portable screens (see "Type"). Among the shortcomings, there is somewhat less convenience in unfolding/folding than in motorized ones, and a certain risk of damaging the mechanism by pulling too sharply or strongly. In addition, such a screen can be difficult if you want to hang it high — you may either have to attach an additional device to the handle like a lace, or use chairs or other supports every time to reach the edge.

Motorized. In this type, the mechanism is driven by a motor, usually an electric one. The main advantage of this type is the maximum ease of use: to unfold or fold, ju...st press a button, the rest will be done by automation. Also, motorized screens do not have the installation height restrictions inherent in manual models (see above), especially if the design provides the use of a remote control (see below). On the other hand, such mechanisms are more complex in design, heavier and more expensive than manual ones, and the motor requires power supply from a power source, which creates additional installation requirements and limits use in portable screens (see "Installation").

Screen height

Dimensions of the operating area of the screen in height. This parameter is important primarily for selecting the optimal model, taking into account the distance to the audience: it is believed that, ideally, the height should be at least 1/6 of the distance from the screen to the last row. Also, similarly to the width (see above), the height determines the dimensions of the screen and, accordingly, the minimum space required for it in the room, and also to a certain extent affects compatibility with the projector.

Remote control

A remote control is included with the screen. This feature is mainly used to control the motorized unfolding mechanism (see above). It greatly simplifies control — you do not have to approach and reach for the screen to give a command. Thus, the screen can be installed without height restrictions, even under the ceiling — the main thing is that the audience is comfortable with it.
