Bore diameter
The diameter of the mounting hole on the cutting disc that the tile cutter is compatible with. This parameter is important when searching for and purchasing interchangeable working nozzles: the diameters of the mounting hole on the tile cutter and on the disk must match.
Cutter diameter
The diameter of the cutting tool in a manual tile cutter (see "Type"). Since in this case the cutter should not cut through the tile, its diameter practically does not affect the performance of the tile cutter — information about the diameter of the cutter can be useful only if it needs to be replaced.
Max. tile thickness
Thickest tile thickness that a manual tile cutter can handle (see "Type"). Since in such tools the tile does not cut through, but breaks along a pre-drawn line, the characteristics do not indicate the depth of the cut, but directly the thickness of the material. This indicator is directly related to the pressure on the fault (see below). Also note that it is quite approximate — the actual capabilities of the tile cutter depend on the characteristics of the material from which the particular tile is made, as well as the physical form of the user.
Hole milling
The possibility of using a tile cutter for
milling — cutting holes and processing their inner surface. In manual models (see "Type") this function is provided by a special device with a rotating handle, referred to in the jargon as a "ballerina"; here it is worth noting that even in advanced hand-held devices, the capabilities of the “ballerina” are rather modest. For electric tile cutters, milling is indicated only if the nozzles (crowns) used for this are supplied as a set. At the same time, many tools that are not equipped with such crowns allow you to install and use separately purchased nozzles that match the size of the mounting hole.
Angle stop
The presence of an angular stop in the design of the tile cutter.
The miter fence is designed to make it easier to cut diagonals and other oblique lines. Do not confuse this function with angular cutting: in this case, we are talking about turning the material horizontally, and the cut itself can be normal, vertical. The corner stop is convenient because you can set it to the desired angle in advance, and then fix the tile in it and not worry about it moving during cutting. This is easier than holding the material by hand and controlling the angle in other ways.
