Power

The total power consumed by the dryer during normal operation.

Technically, the more powerful the device, under other equal, the more intense heating it provides, the faster it warms up to operating temperature (see below) and the more efficiently it warms up the installed shoes. At the same time, we note that with classical heating, without UV illumination, air blowing and other additional functions, a power of 12 — 16 W is considered sufficient for 1 pair of shoes. Therefore, in dryers with a traditional format of operation, the power consumption is related not so much to the intensity of heating, but to the capacity — so that there is guaranteed enough heat “for everyone”. But the presence of the mentioned functions can significantly increase power consumption.

Max. heating temperature

The highest temperature provided by the dryer heating element during normal operation.

High temperatures quickly dry out moisture, but overheating is extremely harmful for shoes. Therefore, in most modern dryers, the maximum temperature is 60 °C — such heating is quite effective and at the same time most types of shoes can withstand it without problems. There are also models with a lower heating intensity — up to 40 °C; they are useful for working with delicate materials, such as suede. And it makes sense to buy “hot” devices with more than 60 °C only if you are sure that the shoe material will withstand such temperatures without consequences.

UV radiation

The presence of a source of ultraviolet radiation in the dryer design — more precisely, several sources, because they are usually installed one for each heating element placed inside the shoe.

Ultraviolet irradiation of the dried surface provides an additional disinfecting effect — it destroys harmful bacteria and fungi, reducing unpleasant odours and reducing the risk of skin diseases. The only drawback of this function is the impact on the cost of dryer.

Auto switch-off

Possibility of auto switch-off after a certain time. This feature avoids unnecessary waste of energy for forgetful users. And just to protect both yourself and the room from prolonged unnecessary work.
