Water consumption per cycle

The amount of water used by the machine in one wash cycle. Usually, it is indicated for a standard (universal) programme — at full load, without pre-rinsing, etc. Accordingly, in special modes, the consumption may differ from the indicated one.

The lower the consumption, the better. On the other hand, a reduction in consumption can harm the quality of the wash. So, when choosing an cost-effective machine, you should pay special attention to the wash class (see below). In addition, only models of the same capacity can be compared in terms of consumption — after all, the more dishes, the more water is required to wash them.

Total number of programmes

The number of washing programmes (modes) provided in the machine. These programmes may differ in duration, exposure intensity, water temperature, dish material (e.g. for delicate dishes), etc. For more information on the different options, see "Programmes". Note that with the same number of programmes, their specific set in different models may be various. These details should be clarified separately.

3-in-1 tablets use

The possibility of using 3-in-1 tablets in the machine — special charges containing all the means necessary for work (detergent, salt for water softening, rinse aid). Without this function, such tools have to be loaded into the machine separately, and it is not very convenient.

End-of-cycle signal

Signal indicates that the machine has finished working. Many dishwashers are quiet, and without a special signal, it can be difficult to determine if the programme has ended.

Leak protection

It is an automatic system that controls the safe use of water by the dishwasher. If there is a leak, the water supply is blocked. And the already collected water is drained, which prevents the “flood” in the house. Leak protection can be applied to the body, to the water supply hoses, or to both (full protection). It is worth noting that hoses with leak protection can usually be purchased and installed separately if the machine is not designed with any protection or protection only applied to the body.

Child lock

It is a safety system designed for homes where there are small children. Various locks can be provided in the design, To prevent a curious child from injuring himself and ruining the machine — usually for the door, sometimes also for the control panel. Child lock is disabled in a way that is easily accessible to an adult, but inaccessible to a child.

Energy efficiency class (new)

This parameter shows the efficiency of electricity consumption by a dishwasher. Classes are designated in Latin letters from A to G, in ascending order of energy consumption. It was originally conceived until more energy-efficient models pulled up to class A, which eventually received the marking A +, A ++, and A +++. Further development of technology has made it possible to go even further and, in order not to produce pluses in energy efficiency labelling, in March 2021, manufacturers returned to the previous indices from G to A, where A is the most energy-efficient dishwasher. Accordingly, the 2021 models will have modern markings, while older models will be marked the old way.

Noise level

It is an approximate noise level produced by the dishwasher during operation. In modern models, this parameter can range from 38 – 39 dB (muffled human voice) to 59 – 60 dB (rather a loud conversation); more detailed decoding of what sound corresponds to a particular number of decibels can be found in special tables. Anyway, the low noise level contributes to the comfortable use of the device. It is important if the dishwasher is to be used at night.

Noise class

It allows one to decipher the values of the noise level in decibels. It is marked, like other classes, in Latin letters, where A is the quietest class of dishwashers.
