The FT T is hotter than most single-coil Tele® bridge pickups, but it has way more twang and snap than a humbucking pickup ought to have. This trick was pulled off by combining patented dual-resonance coils (less DC resistance than a standard Tele® single-coil) with twin-blade poles for less string-pull than standard rod magnets. The book is still being written about what an 8-string pickup should sound like. In DiMarzio think it should have a wide frequency response, be very articulate and dynamic, and not be muddy. This is the basic D Activator™ bridge sound. The low notes are big and percussive, and the highs have a lot of cut without being piercing.
