The more→bulbous tips of the floats are easy to see at distance, which is important when you are catching your fish 30 metres or more downstream from where you are sat. Shotting is kept simple and I recommend a strung out arrangement of No4's with a No6 on the hooklength.

SIZES: 4g, 6g, 8g, 10g This pattern takes over where the No2 Bolo leaves off. It has a thicker hollow bristle and the shape of the float allows it to be held back hard and easily controlled in very more→strong current. This float works especially well in depths from six to fifteen feet and should be fished with DH In-Line olivette. This is fixed around two to three feet from the hook with a No4 or No1 drop shot on the hooklength.

This pattern features a shouldered top and a heavy 2.4mm aluminium stem, which gives the float significantly more weight than a more→ny previous designs. This makes the floats easy to use for distance casting and gives the angler much better control in pacy water. They're especially good in downstream wind as the float 'sits in' and the line can be easily mended against them. This, in turn makes for better bait presentation.

SIZES: 2g, 3g, 4g, 5g, 6g Our original No1 Alloy Avon has become a big success with anglers all over the UK and abroad but there are times when the tops of the floats can be a little too big and bu more→oyant. This new No2 model has been developed with species like roach, dace and chub in mind and all five sizes feature long alloy stems and smaller diameter, tapered tops. The reason for this taper is to allow the angler to shot the float well down when a bulk rig as well as a reasonable amount of sensitivity is required. The shouldered design allows the angler to hold back quite hard in strong flow.

My general rule of thumb for this sort of fishing is to use a DH In-Line olivette – 1g for e more→very three feet of water. A swim that is around twelve feet deep should therefore be tackled with a 4g float. The hollow tips of these floats allows for easy visibility at distance.

Like more→our other bolo floats, it is best fished with a bulk in the form of a DH On-Line olivette about 18in to 2ft from the hook and a single drop shot, either a No8 or a No6, positioned about 10 inches from the hook. This is also a great float for use with long whips, a style of fishing that has become very popular on a variety of venues in recent times.
