The quick release mechanism replaces the standard screw-on threaded nut with a spring-loaded lock that slips on and off in less than one second. Just pull down on the collar and it slides off, to reinsert just depress the middle section with the thumb saving the time and making it easy to mount and un-mount hi hat cymbals. This clutch does away with threads, meaning no more loosening of the bottom nut.
