The Zipp 303 Firecrest Carbon Disc tubeless rear wheel is faster, lighter and more versatile on varied terrain. When it comes to riding fast, efficiency means reduction: wind resistance, rolling resistance, rider fatigue, weight. It was designed using direct measurements from the real world (compared to wind tunnel or computer simulation). The results were enormous. It has an outer width of 30mm, an inner width of 25mm, and a rim depth of 40mm. The profile provides reduced drag and an improved transition between rim and tyre, increasing aerodynamic efficiency on the road. The wide rim stance also features less tyre deflection to reduce rolling resistance. The combination of a wider rim, higher tyre volume and lower tyre pressure helps reduce rider fatigue by smoothing out handling on rough pavement and roads.
