To speed up the process further the Midiflex can automatically detect whether MIDI in or out is connected and utilises the MIDI port indicators to display the current input setting. For even more ports multiple Midiflex units may be used simultaneously. The interface can also operate in standalone mode. In this configuration the Midiflex works as a MIDI 2-1 merge or 3-1 split box. A dedicated button on the unit ensures easy switching of the modes with visual feedback on the 4 MIDI LED indicators.
