Pirastro Flexocor bass strings are responsive and stable strings aimed primarily for players who like to play arco and want a string that is designed to get the most out of the bow. With a high tensile rope core of carbon steel this offers increased flexibility and more tonal possibilities than solid steel cores. The chrome steel winding adds warmth to the sound which is often typical of orchestra basses. This all makes for an extremely responsive string under the bow. You will notice the effort and touch required to get the string to speak under the bow is much lesser than other strings. The sustain when playing pizz is also short making for more of a classic orchestral pizz sound rather than the longer sustain you may see on strings more designed for jazz.
