To support both types of NUC, the D2NU1-S includes a variety of ports, such as HDMI, Mini Display Port, Ethernet, and USB. Additionally, Serial connectors and WLAN antennas can be added using four breakout blankings on the rear bezel. The case includes a copper heat spreader that is milled from 99.9% pure electrolytic copper. Heat is transferred through this spreader to the case’s shell, where it can be dissipated into the air. In fact, the shell is technically not a case, but a large heat sink, offering a large surface area using multiple fins to radiate heat. This is a passive cooling process and no additional fans are required, so the Intel NUC will be completely silent when in operation.
