It was the successor to the first Tamiya 4WD Buggy 58047 Hotshot from 1985 and the 58054 Supershot. The Hotshot convinced with its weight-optimised design which was achieved by the use of plastic parts instead of metal. This made the buggy particularly agile and stable at the same time. If a child assembles the model a supervising adult should also have read the building instructions. Tools including knives are used when assembling the kit.
